Apprenticeships

It’s called unconscious bias.

Well done for managing to rubbish an extremely well intentioned opening post though. Bravo!

I identify as a courgette. Please can I insist the original post is updated to make it clear that people who identify as courgettes are able to apply.

Apprenticeships are an amazing route to take especially as a young person on Teesside was lucky to get one myself 10 years ago and never looked back, it gave me a hell of a lot of opportunities.

These are good ones posted too!

Already 2 laughing emoji from Festa5 and centralscutinizer. Just sums up the problem really.
There is really nothing funny about sexism.
I thought you were making the (legitimate) point in a humorous way based on what I took as a pretty innocent faux pas from the OP. That's why I put the laughing emoji.

It's no like he said "no girls allowed this is man's work" is it?

Christ. 🙄

My daughter was successful in applying for a law apprenticeship with a legal firm (small firm not corporate) - she has annual salary and part time law degree and post grad route to qualify as a solicitor fully expensed. She did a random search - found the application and thought... Why not.... Might be better option than undergraduate and full time student.....

As a parent ... . The outcomes on her first 18 months have been staggering...... She is thriving in work and on part time degree course... . She is years ahead of where she would be off she had taken the conventional route ...... And she will have a qualified job as a solicitor at the end of her six years, plus six years employment experience and NO STUDENT DEBT!

I can't say she was lucky because she completed her application and interview prep herself and she worked hard at GCSEs and A levels - which opened the door. Rather than luck..... Proud dad :)

This really is the way forward....... And will be encouraging my other two kids to consider employment based routes if that fits with their preferred options after school.
