I'm not sure "being quick" makes a difference.

He knows we want him; he won't be signing for anyone else without seeing our offer.

Likewise, he's unlikely to sign the first contract sent his way without checking what else is out there.

If we've made our best offer, and it's acceptable to him, his agent will still tell hime to take a week or so to see if anyone tops it.

You'd hope this is the case, especially as both Ayling and Carrick have publicly stated the deal is nearly done

I've seen loads of announcements of players leaving clubs but don't think I have seen any clubs announce signings yet?

As you say, I bet it's already just about done but everyone is on holiday so won't be announced for a while.

Many a slip 'twixt up and lip but I think we can be pretty sure Ayling will be with us next season.

Johny Howson could well be there also as he is an avid Leeds fan,I hope they win for his sake and we won’t have to compete with them next year.

The Telegraph column they cite also breaks the news that Paddy McNair is leaving the club. The column just seems to be a round up of championship info from the last fortnight; I don't think it contains anything new.
