Biggest bargain in football history

Excellent trolling. People will genuinely think you're a complete imbecile after that.

Wow! Bit strong that like! Genuine question - how old are you?

I’m not saying he wasn’t a very good player / signing / bargain.

I’m saying he wasn’t the best bargain ever.

They got 5 seasons out of him, he was banned for 1 and then retired so no sell on fee.

Man U finished with 2 points more the season after Cantona left. They won the treble the following season.

Whilst Cantona was playing for France they lost every game at euro 92, didn’t qualify for WC94.

When he was banned for Euro 96, they got knocked out the semis on pens! Then won the WC in 98.

Again, I’m not saying he wasn’t very good, but I don’t think he was quite as good as the myth that Man U fans (or the once closet Teesside glory supporters 😉) portray him as.

Surely it's this one by a long long way? Assuming you forget the crippling wages that nearly destroyed the club that is
I would say the marque presidential signings caused more financial issues than Messi's wages. His commercial value was/is insane and far more than his wages.

Good point. And for what Barca paid for him it's ridiculous. I hope wichever scout decided to take a punt on him got a signing bonus!
