Bye Bye Hackney?

If we want to be serious about promotion then it's no more 'projects', we've got enough of them. And I don't mean we should necessarily be signing 'proven' established players either. Just that sweet spot really, can go straight in the first team and not look like a fish out of water but at the same time still have development potential.

However I'm well aware that's easier said than done 🤷‍♂️
Surely for all positions we need a conveyor belt of first teamer, younger challenger and project.

Rav has moved from project to young challenger/1st teamer. We’ve got McNair out the door, so we have a gap for a project CB

Reasonably relaxed about Hackney, obviously prefer him to stay, but might not get this opportunity again. O’Brien would need to take a decent pay cut to come here from Forest in the Premier and it looks like they are staying up now. We’ve got a decent nucleus just need to add quality if it’s available and look to develop potential as we’ve done this year. Exciting times ahead, I enjoy seeing us develop players.

The projects can come from the Academy. I meant more in terms of new signings. Our horrendous injury record of last season is not likely to be repeated next season so the base of the squad in numerical terms is fine. The signings we make need to supplement that impressive spine we already have.

Yes some will be from the academy, but the chances of getting a rav or rogers through the academy are very low. We shouldn’t stay out of that market, if players with a high ceiling become available we can’t turn our nose up

If Hackney leaves - I can't see us signing O'Brien, and Howson is now closer to 40 than 30... It leaves a massive hole at CDM which Law McCabe isn't going to fill.

with Birmingham relegated I'd love us to sign Jordan James. 100 championship games at only 19 years old.

Yes I mentioned him the other day. He’s also good at receiving and turning under pressure and is about 6 foot 2, gonna be some player

Has this been reported by any reputable news sources yet?

I've only seen it on the gossip sites that just report what's being said on Twitter and fans' message boards

My guess is the Club are prepared to listen to big bids - but he is regular England under 21 and has shown he can compete at a higher level say against Chelsea - so for me that's £20m plus add ons. He is a very limited commodity.

Much prefer him to be at Boro next season though.

Probably still two years away from prem ready, but I would guess that there are some big clubs keeping an eye over him. With birminghams relegation they might be forced to cash in

No, it hasn't. Only West Ham fan sites have reported it, and all of them are basing it solely on the rumour/story put out by The Red.
