1973-74 season squad statistics

What an amazing season
Here are the players statistics from that season. It shows you why, those of you who were there can reel off the team by heart.
The first 11 were there almost every week and they steam rollered the opposition
most weeks. Except for Forest away blooming Duncan McKennzie.
Other seasons had more individual exciting matches but this one was unparalleled
for consistent pure football. I could go on about it for hours

This thread has sent a shiver down the spine and a tear to the eye. I know this is old guy reminiscing for many young uns on here (the equivalent of old guys droning on about Wilf Mannion in my day), but it's impossible to overstate how great that side was. To be seventeen and a Boro supporter in 1974 was the very definition of heaven
Pretty much that same team weren't a million miles away from winning the League & Cup double the next season.
It was a fantastic team.
(Another opportuniy to bemoan Kevin Bloody Hector & Bloody Bob Hatton).

Most wins, fewest defeats, most goals scored and fewest conceded. Plus, the equivalent of being 23 points clear had it been 3 points for a win. Total domination of the division! 👍
We definitely smashed the league that season.

What a season. Here are the players statistics for that season. You can see why people.e who were there can reel off the first team off by heart. Other seasons may have more individual exciting matches but this one was truly different.
The 11 players steam rolled the whole division except for Forest bloomin Duncan McKenzie.

It sounds kind of mad but bear with, a certain Steve Gibson was 16 yo at the time and to think how his love for Boro has never wavered in how the club has been run since 1986.

Never know a season like that could of inspired an impressionable and budding entrepreneur who soon as he's make big money he goes straight into the Boro boardroom.
