Now I "get it". I haven't watched that closely for years, normally just watch our entry, then the points. It’s a celebration of LgBt pride. Has been for years
I agree. The Malmo Arena was not just full of the gay community - a lot of music fans go too. My sister in law goes every year with her mates and they are as straight as they come. She gets rather irritated that many charge the Eurovision Song Contest as just a gay celebration and festival. It isn't just that at all.Dude, I understand the point you are trying to make but with all due respect I do not care whether he is "a young lad who defines himself as non binary" or a heterosexual or homosexual male or female or in fact anything else. You cannot "try being gay and growing up with gay shame" any more than you can being ginger, a small person or - at least when I grew up - from a poor family.
Eurovision isn't a celebration of identity, creed, sexual orientation colour, or outrageous costumes, it was originally about people coming together across many countries as an occasion to realise a music/song/performance by an act from each, and the best of them winning. To a degree that stands, but the more kooky (see David Bowie) an act is these days, the bigger the reaction.
Just my opinion - block me if you want.
They did though in 2022. The UK song was 5th on the televote (as well as winning the jury vote). That’s because it was a very good song. What’s the point of the U.K. entering when no one else in Europe is ever going to vote for us mind the song was ***** like

Although we were pretty popular at that time, due to our strong show of support for Ukraine in the early days of the war.This.
Sam Ryder put to bed the 'it's because we're British' myth.
