Thought I would dedicate a few of 'this day' to our latest Boro fan
The 1st FAC we played on this day was way back in 1885, before we became a league club, we lost 5-2 at Old Estonians in a round 4 tie
1903 Notts County were our visitors for our 1st fixture on this day in what was our final season at Linthorpe Road with Boro winning this division one fixture 2-1 with Joe Cassidy & A. Thompson among the goals
1925 was our 1st away win on this day when we travelled to Bradford coming away with a 1-0 win, courtesy of an Ian Dickson penalty who became the 18th different Boro player to score from the spot & 65th away penalty as a league club
1948 was our 1st FAC tie played on this day as a league club, when we travelled to Brentford for a 4th round match & came away with a 2-1 win with Johnny Sphuler & James McCormack getting our goals
1969 Our 1st win at Ayresome Park on this day, a division two fixture, we beat Oxford United 2-0 with goals from Johnny Cross an & Mr Middlesbrough John Hickton, attendance 23,030
1970 Boro beat York City 4-1 at Ayresome Park in a 3rd round replay with goals from Eric McMordie, George Smith, Joe Laidlaw & a Mr Middlesbrough John Hickton penalty, big John became our 43rd different penalty taker, our 6th FAC penalty & 229 in total penalty, attendance 32,283
1981 a 30 yard Ian Bailey thunder bolt seen Boro progress to the 5th round of the FAC with a 1-0 home win over WBA, well it was really a 25 daisy cutter,
attendance 28,285
1987 Paul Kerr Boro's 1st cash signing after liquidation made his league debut at Bury in a 3-0 Boro win, with a brace from Bernie Slaven & a Brian Laws penalty, Laws became the 56th different Boro penalty taker & our 281 penalty as a league club
No league games at the Riverside due to FAC day, so I've included one of our famous away wins on this day 2015
