6 of us travelled down last night for early flight to Bologna for the weekend leaving 7.30.

Checked into hotel to get a message - flight cancelled
Re scheduled 20.30 - no confidence that will go either.

Spoke to them - they just don’t give a flying firk
 
That’s b***ks, losing your whole first day in Bologna, I had similar last year for rome, not as bad as that think it was about 4 hours different but it right buggered me up as the hotel would not accept any check ins after 11pm, so ended up having to cancel that one losing about £60 in a booking fee and re booking a new one short notice at an inflated rate.
 
We’ve paid for hotels at Heathrow we didn’t need
A taxi at the other end we’ve lost cos we didn’t give 24 hours notice
Deposit on a restaurant for tonight

It’s just rubbish

Hopefully we get there tonight and crack on
 
It’s pretty poor from a lot of airlines and the industry currently. I missed a connection in Frankfurt last month, as Air Traffic Control in Newcastle was understaffed.

Flying home last week my connection from Schiphol to Newcastle was cancelled as I arrived at Schiphol. KLM stayed weather problems but other flights were landing at Newcastle!
 
Sounds crap this Finny, hope it didn't wreck things too much and you can still recover the trip away and make up for it.

It's not an excuse, but there are quite a few reasons why the airline industry is just going to have big problems for a long while, we kind of have to expect it now.

They're all screwed on staff (crew, pilots, maintenance), struggle for parts, and the inconsistency leaves them very little leeway. Then couple that with one-offs that you can't get away from (weather, faults, outside influences etc) and it's even worse. Also all the airlines got hammered during covid, so lost staff and lost a lot of margin (which leads to an additional loss in flexibility).

We're just destined for a lesser service/ standards in just about everything due to brexit and covid impact, among other things.
 
Do you still get mega compo on it though or is that lost now as another "Brexit benefit"?

I got £400 after our flight from Bulgaria was delayed a few hours

BA are the worst for compo so we will see…..
The battle starts on my return, just got to enjoy the delights of Hayes and Heathrow for th next 8 hours

Having a cafe Nero at the moment to live the Italian experience 😂
 
Learnt my lesson a long time ago with BA... I wont fly with them now, to the point I look for a different Airport if they are coming up as the only option.

It’s still available but the airlines have a bit more flexibility in the criteria. KLM and Lufthansa have both refused me compensation recently. I’m not bothered as the flights don’t cost me anything.

It’s definitely noticeable as a frequent flyer. I work with people who fly BA, Lufthansa, Norwegian and others and there’s been loads of issues.

A Dutch lad I work with described the situation you mention for the reason Schiphol is struggling. Last time I travelled regularly Schiphol was absolutely brilliant. There was never an issue unless it was weather related.

Have you tried one of the agencies? They take a cut but do all the leg work

The airline pushed back on them but they know what they can and can't push back on and when they're taking the Micky

Dropped my daughter off at Heathrow a few months ago and popped into a Lidl, maybe a Aldi, in Hayes.

The place was a **** hole. The high Street was full of rubbish everywhere. It was a very diverse population.
