Government must move 'Treasury North' to Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool

Annoyingly I think Boris genuinely sees the need and sense in this. But he’ll never get the civil service to move from their comfortable homes in Berkshire. They’ll just string it out until he’s gone and it’ll get buried with any other idea they don’t fancy.
 
What’s more significant is that the other Northern reinvented cities are also sniffing and to be brutally honest if you’re from the Home Counties you’d accept being planted In one of those Other than Teesside . Part of my reasoning is people are governed by media and we have had an appalling Run of media representation .
 
Spot on . If anyone of late has travelled on the link from Dario to Teesside you’ll doubtless be disgusted It’s medieval . I know they’re doing a direct link to London but how long is that away ?
 
Tees Valley needs to start rebuilding Middlesbrough Station and get that in place, whilst identifying sites for new housing with planning for schools, transport, shops, leisure facilities, medical services, etc.
No good doing things piecemeal.

Dunno if it's got any worse since, but the last time I used that was one December evening on the last leg of a trip from Aberdeen a couple of years ago. Have to say though that the second hand clapped out ex-Scotrail rolling stock was a huge improvement on the Pacers.

Whether the treasury moves to Teesside or not is another matter but they are serious about moving Civil jobs out of London. It's already started happening and there's a serious commitment to it all levels, not just from this particular government.
