Big mates with The Damned and The Ramones...also gave Sid a few bass lessons.

And the Punks liked Motörhead (apparently one or two of them liked Hawkwind too)

A friend of mine was his girlfriend in the very early 80s and she said he was properly addicted to them, which is why she finished it. Quite sad really, I don't think he ever got past them.

Went to see them in Newcastle city hall about 1979 ish and I blame them for my hearing loss. It took me 4 days for my ears to pop
