Never said he shouldn't have gone and actually said I was glad he enjoyed it, just questioning the humble brag...feels a little like the message board equivalent of burning a £20 note in front of a homeless person.

How? - People save and go on holiday. I'm going away tomorrow and have been twice already this year... Maybe that's a humble brag, but when I'm not on holiday, I'm at work...

We should be encouraging each other to live our best lives. Not trying to find the negative.

I just think it's a little tone deaf.
 
It's a bizarre thing to get upset about. I didn't see it as a brag in any way. Bit bemused by the criticism. I'm fascinated actually because £800 for all that travel sounds like a bargain compared to some flights. It costs about the same for a family of 4 to fly Ryanair to the canaries in the summer holidays. I (or work) paid £350 for me to go to London on the train recently so £800 sounds pretty good.

The figure mentioned wasn't even £1k. I'd expect that sort of reaction if it had been 10x that maybe.

Totally agree - I think it's 2k usually but he got a £800 black friday deal. Bargain for 20+ trips.
 
I spent 1500 GBP staying in a hotel in Middlesbrough for 3 weeks, eating from a Tesco garage. And for 10 nights in Marrakech for 2 , Airbnb and cheapest flights,well over 1000 GBP.. this trip sounds amazing. Good on you.
