On a visit to Madrid I saw Guernica by Picasso. Absolutely massive.

God knows how they fixed it to the wall safely. Very well hung.

What a coincidence. My daughters homework last night mentioned the theft of the Mona Lisa in 1911.

Its in my bucket list to see this, i dont know why, just always wanted to be able to say i've seen it. I saw Sunflowers a few year ago and remember been blown away, rang my mam to tell her, and i have no artistic bone in my body and no love of art whatsoever just thought it was weirdly moving to see an iconic work of art. I'd love to see David and the Venus de milo for same reasons, just intrigued and think they're really iconic pieces of art people should clap eyes on.

If you find yourself in Madrid, visit the Prado and look at Las Meninas by Velazquez.

There's so much going on. It's the art world equivalent of a whodunit novel, although there's no murder.

There are multiple versions of the sunflowers, I’ve seen a few, all beautiful.

If you were blown away by sunflower, don’t expect the same feeling from the Mona Lisa. You’ll probably think, as per the OP, it’s not very big and she’s not even fit so why’s he even painting her.

Yes, I went to most of the good galleries in Madrid. So much good stuff.

The Garden of Earthly Delights is another of that type of painting. Lots going on.
