Greenwood works non stop when he is on the pitch. His assist on Saturday was pure class. Instead of seeing what he isn’t doing, see what he can. At 21 he has the time and ability to find that consistent performance level. I think the emergence of Gilbert will give Carrick food for thought but at £1.5m and reasonable wages I dont think he is overpriced.

I've said this a million times now but 8 goal contributions in your first full season plus quite a few near misses isn't a bad return for your first season. I'd rather sign him and try and develop him further than start again with someone else (though that depends who our options are).

If it was a 21 year old academy lad, everyone would be saying he’s an excellent prospect who probably needed a break after Christmas but had to keep playing because of all the injuries. We would be excited about his potential next season
