After Wilder first arrived last season it was obvious he placed a lot of importance on the team having that solid spine, in the same way that Karanka did. He persevered with the back 3 combination of Djiksteel, Fry and McNair, and midfield trio of Howson, Crooks and Tav, even though we didn't get off to a great start under Wilder.
I know the decision to sell Tav was taken out of his hands, and Crooks has had his recent illness, but we haven't settled on a back 3.
I'm hopeful once we sign a LCB Wilder will be able to decide on his preferred back 3 and we'll see some consistency, but this really should have been sorted before the season started. I feel we've put all our eggs into one basket in trying to sign Greaves, when in reality it may have been wiser to move on and look elsewhere.
