Leaving Leo to field the media speculation

As caretaker coach of course we want to hear from him but I think he’s been largely thrown under the bus by the club when it comes to fielding constant questions about the managerial situation. Don’t forget English is not his native tongue so put him out front and centre on the spot like this I think is poor.

Part of the job tho innit

Why do you think there are no pre-match media conferences at present?

Bausors job to answer this question but hes hiding with gibson . Leo has been dignified when put in an awkwRd situation by the press with certain questions fielded to him.

I’m not blaming Leo but there should be someone to answer these issues with him as I say he’s not a native English speaker so he could easily say the wrong thing or be misconstrued. I think he’s been put in a very difficult position.

Where’s the DOF as surely this is his remit.

This is why there are no prematch press conferences.

I’m guessing that whatever outcome is due it is fairly imminent making any announcement fairly redundant.

Carrick has been heavily linked and we’re still three days shy of how long it took us with karanka.

Leo & Co are doing a fantastic in the circumstances, increased win rate, points per game. It would be daft to throw that in the bin purely out of impatience.

But is having no prematch press conferences the solution? - Scott should be sat next to Leo to answer any non-football related questions.
Did we have folks spoon feeding us information and updates after the departure of Tony Mowbray?

they don't do press match pressers though do they, that's a managers job, I'm sure he can handle being asked about carrick after a match, at least they not putting him through it before, his presser before the first one made it sound like he was either doing the pre game presser or training on the day of the presser, so if he trains with the team as a result of the 3 minute pre-recorded jobs then that is a better use of his time for me

I don't recall going to any Mark Venus pre match press conferences. Maybe they happened and I was too disappointed to go but equally maybe there was nothing between Mowbray and Karanka - the Karanka press conference went on for hours.

We’ve definitely seen a change in our internet fanbase, much more impatient. Much more jumping on the bandwagon types..
I think it’s been since lockdown, more people using the internet to vent their frustrations without the benefit of having input from others.

or it could be that since the geordies have seen an upturn in their fortunes.. we need to be the ones making utter pollocks of ourselves with the bed wetting and delusions of grandeur!

I agree with that but I’m just saying I think putting a non native English speaker to address local media on an this issue an issue out of his pay grade is not fair on him

As he is the lone voice coming out of the club at the moment and has been for some time.

He is a non native English speaker who is working in Britain mostly with english speaking footballers which he has to convey his ideas over to.

In the tole he's been temporarily performing, to expect him to straight bat these questions with a simple consistent answer isn't too much to ask I don't think.

And I think his job would have been all the more hard had the club released anything, because they would have had something to put to him.

It's not impatience or frustration... Rob said this is the reason for no pre-match press conferences...

If the reason is the constant questions about the manager situation, put someone next to Leo who can answer them and the problems solved.

The fans are defo more impatient and more easily frustrated!

If it was a problem could Leo not just say I’m not speaking about the manager situation?

"the manager search is ongoing. We are looking to put together the best team possible to take the club forward. We will let the fans know as soon as we have a development. I wouldn't like to put a timescale on things or name any names as people are currently under contract at other clubs"

There you go. That's all you'd get. Just pretend it came from someone with a title like football development officer instead of a random numpty on the internet.
