Absolutely shocking that.
Sivi and olusanya were punts that got nowhere near our first team

Ameobi lasted two training sessions

Lumley was crap, Daniel’s not really any better

Payero was a waste of money and effort

Ikpeazu was a typical Warnock rubbish signing

Bamba and Peltier were useful but not good enough to be starters

And crooks was the only success out of 10 players. Horrific business

Anything close to a net £2m would be excellent for me. Matty Crooks is now 30 and getting slower. I would like to keep him, but if the fee is much higher now than say in the Summer it could be worth selling and using the money to build in the Summer.

I think we will experiment a bit with Forss, McGree, Greenwood. Silvera as a support forward/forward.

In theory we also still have Hoppe. I am not saying he is good enough for the Championship, but he did score 2 goals in 7 games on loan in the USA (according to Wikipedia.
 
Is a fee worth it if if weakens our squad though? If we are serious about promotion hopes, we would of been better off with him in the squad than out of it.
 
Maybe he wants to go, what an opportunity for his family. We’ve had him at his peak and he’s been great, on and off the pitch. No doubt it will come out in the future.

We’re not going up this season even if he stays.
 
If the reported fee is correct i can't help but feel crooks is more important to our season than 2/3 million.

His link up play with Jones is excellent, and he always has goals and assists in him.

Proven champ player, and a good one at that.

Disappointing this, but i wish him all the very best. Top bloke.

of our front line when fit.. who does he get in ahead of? I’m not so sure if he does.. if we are strengthening in the summer he will know himself when the best time to jump ship is.

Jones/Silvera
Azaz/Greenwood
McGree/Gilbert

Forss/Latte Lath/Coburn/Hoppe

I liked him and would have liked to seen him see out the season at least.. but then the new MLS season is starting and he’ll want to establish himself there.

Kieron Scott mentioned that we were getting Finn Azaz in any case.. and ‘substantial’ figures are being quoted from Matt Crooks. Harsh as it may seem maybe this was the clubs plan all along..

But then the Morgan Rogers thing came about which was apparently unexpected.. so now we are genuinely without (as Scott said) a replacement for Morgan Rogers..
 
So the rumour that was taken down from this board earlier this week was true. Personally I think any chance we have of making the play offs will end if he leaves now. We really do not have enough options up front to justify this happening now. He gives us some much needed steel when the going gets tough. End of season not a problem, he can leave with my blessing, there goes another one of my favourite players.

100 appearances and Rotherham have a sell on clause..

I wonder if they were in line for a bonus if he played more than 100 games!

Sivi was brought in to supplement our academy, Olusanya was a punt.. possibly hitting back at our recruitment bringing in Payero
Ameobi was a good signing.. unfortunately he got injured and didn't recover.. it's happened to a few players tbf
Lumley was good enough to warrant a move.. we later found out that he blew hot and cold.. massively so
Payero was unfortunate.. joined at the wrong time.. during the pandemic.. struggled with the language and found the league too intense.. good player.. poor signing. Would have preferred warnock's choice Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu
Ikpeazu was worth a shot.. gave us something.. low risk
Bamba and Peltier were absolutely inspirational signings the driving force behind those big game results.
Crooks.. typical Warnock signing.. bloody brilliant!
 
I wish him well. A tremendous opportunity for him and his family. Although 'footballing' wise think he's better than that league.

That said I'd rather it was the summer. We are weaker without him and Rogers. I'd say neither have been replaced. Crooks has more of a goal threat than the majority of our squad.

Although clearly not in Carricks plans. He's played less and less over the months. Genuinely sad to see him go. A 1mil bargain 👌

It seems odd. I guess it's a deal that suits everyone. Yet I can think of plenty id move on before him.
 
Not included in our squad list apparently according to Craig Johns so it must be as good as done

Only 24 man squad submitted. So that clearly leaves a gap for a free transfer.

Scott and Carrick were very vague when asked about free transfer options. I have a feeling we've one lined up. I'm presuming a CF.

He'll be a good player for most teams most teams would probably kill for a midfielder that gets his goals and assists, and a positive social presence. That said, onwards and upwards hopefully... guess it isn't all about the fee. He's 30 now, will want to play but starting to get on a bit, if we can replace him with someone younger and pacier, it's all good. Probably our last chance to cash in on him, and his last chance to have a good move

I dont think Matt would be the difference in promotion or not with this squad.

As much as I like him its a great move for him and he has done enough for us to deserve the chance to pursue it.
