Players should drive around in sponsored cars again Like they used to.

I remember seeing Gary hamilton getting out of his sponsored car huge writing on it outside frankie dee’s in the glebe in norton

I think it was an Orion.
 
Stan Cummins had a red Golf as I used to walk past Hutton Red training ground going to school . Was covered in white print that I can’t recollect but it may have been Cartune - the VW dealer in Netherfields. Always wanted a Golf like that after seeing him in one 🤭
 
Some of them didn't, as I remember offering Alan Kernaghan a hand when he was trying, and struggling, to get a Flymo into his grey, un-sponsored, Renault 5 Sport on my way to school.

Got a quick "**** off" for my troubles, and I like to think that's why Lennie got rid of him rather than the absolute fortune City offered for the spud.
 
It was middle 80's when I bought a Vauxhall Nova 1.3SR Booked a test drive and the car was being used by me Mark Page with his name emblazoned down the side with Radio logo etc. He had to bring it in so I could take it out.
 
I used to see Paul Kerr driving his around Marton fairly often. I think it was a Ford Fiesta.
I can't imagine any of our players touching it with a barge pole now.
 
Used to see Kernaghan all the time at the Turkish Baths on Normanby Road and he was always in a South Cleveland Garages sponsored car.

Real Madrid had a similar deal with Audi back when David Beckham used to play for them.
 
I remember seeing Bosco driving his Datsun Sunny, although it said “Bozo Jankovic” on the side fir some reason.

Bernie was given a Fiesta 950 Popular.

Davenport turned up in an XR3 which turned the rest of the team rather green.
 
Spike Armstrong had one of these but I don't know if it was sponsored:

I have a photo in one of my scrapbooks with Craig Johnston sat in his new sponsored car looking out through the drivers window with his keys in hand
