For reasons which i don't quite understand, Mcgree has had some stick on here lately.

Personally, I think he's an excellent footballer - you could tell very quickly after he joined us. He also stood out like a sore thumb in the Birmingham team against us.

He's too good to be on the bench, but i'm not sure wilder will persist with just 1 striker and him as a number 10. If he reverts back to using 2 strikers, Mcgree for me should definitely still be one of the 3 starting midfielders because of his quality on the ball and ability to get forward etc.

I also thought he was brilliant last night. Maddo sang his praises all game too. I thought we lost control of the game when he went off.

Very classy player. I think he’s been unfairly judged as many seen the situation as McGree or Tavernier in the team. Only one of them is here now so let’s back him.

I really like him and when when we play the formation we did last night he will play every time as he’s great in that 10 role. But I do think he will be on the bench when we play 2 up top as Mowatt is better in LCM

Very good last night I think he suffered from “where does he fit in syndrome” as from his style and build it’s hard to pick his ideal role but did well last night.

I don't think anyone really disputes that mcgree is a talented player, he's just not cut out to be a central midfielder in the championship. In my opinion we seem to get bulldozed in midfield when he starts there.

I think mcgree playing off the striker is a great option in difficult games as it allows us to beef up midfield if required.

Ultimately, if Wilder stays at boro then I don't feel that mcgree will really flourish here as he isn't a perfect fit for wilder's system. He would be ideal to play off a lone striker in a 4 2 3 1 system.

He got a right slating after WBA which in my opinion was extremely harsh given it was the first game of the season.

He was all over the pitch last night, showed some really classy touches and movement, got into great positions, just a shame his finishing let him down, but that can be improved... remember Tav's efforts on goal before Wilder came in?

I think a number of fans were looking for scapegoats when we don't win - hes done a decent job all season and last season - reminds me of a slightly better version of Foreshaw.

Some of our defending has been a bit shabby and McCree is not causing that.

Very good player. Will be our player of the season ahead of Jones and Giles which even now looks some feat.

Thought he was good. Did you see how fast he was to the ball think it was 2nd half when he started a counter attack off. I didn't realise he had pace like that. Always thought he would make a better number 10 (although I don't like talking in numbers).

He was very good last night, the best he has played for us, however, this was mainly due to the fact he didn't have the same defensive responsibilities as when he plays as an '8'. The issue when Mcgree plays in midfield is he has to do more without the ball, what Tav was so good at, and sadly this is the standard people are holding him to

I was confident he would do well last night after seeing him perform briefly in that role vs Sheff Utd.

It's going to be difficult to see where he'll fit in going forward though, as I suspect Wilder will still prefer to have two strikers on the pitch.

He is very similar to Tav in my books - works very hard for the team, good skills on the ball and both need to improve their finishing if they want to be real top class

he cant play central midfield hes too weak in there but as a no 10 last night it worked really well , the fact that he drops back and links midfield and attack is massive plus.He just needs to find some composure in front of goal. A word for watmore who has been written off this season and was brilliant

I don’t think Watmore has been written off just criticised fairly for poor performances and praised deservedly yesterday for what was a terrific performance

some players take time to get into a grove and watmore is one of them, i think fry is another who needs games to get back to optimal performance

That’s fair enough and I agree but I do think the comments on Watmore have been fair in the main. He stays in the team on Saturday.
