Shocking by Eddie Hearn

More or less claiming that Daniel Dubois doesn't really have an eye injury despite it been reported that he has a broken eye socket. Anyone could see watching the fight that it wasn't looking good for his eye from the early rounds. Hearn also calling Dubois a quitter but didn't seem to think that when Joshua wanted out of the first Ruiz fight.

The reaction to Dubois going down has been scandalous. What would be the point of potentially ruining his life and career? He more than likely made a very smart decision. Some of these people knocking Dubois are effectively egging fighters on to suffer life changing injuries or worse in the ring.

I saw this and I’m. Not sure what to think:

Maybe he has insider information - hard to imagine his eye socket broke from the jab. Easy way for Daniel Dubois to prove it though, just put up the xrays/Mri

There’s defined needle between the two and Frank Warren certainly gives more than he gets, everything he does or says he uses Matchroom as a reference point in order to try and devalue them. He was not very kind when Dillian Whyte got knocked out so if you are gonna give it you have to take it. Though I am surprised to see Eddie Hearn go so low, matchroom are so far ahead of Queensbury he doesn’t need to. I just feel he couldnt help himself as it’s seems Warrens golden goose is cooked.I can’t see Dubois coming back from this. Despite him being 23 he quit from a jab - he’s not as tough as he thought and Joe Joyce is a top 15 fighter. The top five would have him out on a few rounds. He was like a rabbit in the headlights as he’s used to knocking people over, as soon as someone hit him back he didn’t know what to do. His conditioning was poor as he was gassed from the first round, whilst Joyce looked like he could have done another 12 rounds at the end of the fight.

With regard quitting it’s very simple - ask any normal man on the street they would quit and live to fight another day with their sight intact - ask a fighter and they can’t see this, they are just built differently, they would rather be carried out than quit - there are numerous arguments between fighters and the public going on online at present - neither side understands the others point of view!

I agree,
All this "warriors go out on their shield" and "I'd rather get knocked out than quit" crap.
If Dubois hadn't did what he did, he might have lost his sight in that eye and not lived to fight another day.

Wasn't Frank 'Bricktop' Warren laughing when Whyte got sparked out. I think Bricktop needs to retire now tbh.

It's a misconception to think that fighters would never want to stop. Nearly all of them do at some point. Some will even get knocked out to get out of there. Each fighter has a threshold but a smart one needs to know their limits. Fighters have different ways of getting out and I prefer the way Dubois did - nice and honest. Much rather that than biting someone, headbutting, taking a knockout blow or not following the referee's instruction (Joshua).

I don't see any value of showing a scan of what may or may not be broke. It's playing to other people's agenda and smacks of wanting an immediate excuse instead of working to put things right and prove it back in the ring. Once you start worrying about excuses rather than proving it the ring - the game's up.

Creating a rivalry to set up hype for potential future fights.

They are salesman selling their product.

Though both Hearn and Warren are weapons grade turds.

I thought Warren and Hearn were as bad as each other but Hearn saying Dubois isn't really injured is terrible. It's a low blow and hugely irresponsible.

Slight dig at Joshua earlier on ? Joshua got up of the canvas 3/4 times if i recall ? Also Bricktop laughing at Dillian getting knocked out was horrendous. - both as bad as each over tbh feel sorry for Dubios tbh. Rushed him into this fight. Was bigging him up as a bigger, better version of AJ when in realty he has had English level fights so far. The corner diddnt help DD as well. And he has also done Joe a poor service with post match talking about DD and not the winner.

Hearns comments were not the best however lets be honest, he has been attacked at every avenue by bricktop over the last 4 years so has started to get his own digs in.

No dig at Joshua, it's just that he'd had enough from Ruiz and didn't want to continue. My point is that's fine by me. A fighter knowing his limits is good. Don't push it beyond recovery or turn to excuses. Keep the opportunity to prove it back in the ring.
