Simon Inglis - Football Grounds of Great Britain

I remember getting his 1st book Football grounds of England out of the library. Even got my own copy and then the GB edition. Great to read pre internet

So many new grounds since the 80s when he first wrote the book. Apart from Everton are there any new grounds currently under construction?

Not sure but think Forest Green Rovers are building a new stadium at the moment. Certainly lots of new stand developments. Fulham, Anfield and in the planning stage Palace.

There are a few planned like Luton and Bristol Rovers. Oh and speculation over a new ground for Newcastle, but the fans can't agree whether a 100,000 capacity will be enough.

I remember that in his original book he said (something like) ‘throughout their long lean years, Middlesbrough have always retained the aura of a big club, due in part to their Ayresome Park stadium’.
Odd what you remember.
