Stockton Lad - Langstaff - comments on Sunday`s Play Off Semi Final

There`s a lot of ill-informed speculation that Langstaff is likely to move on this summer. But, it is just speculation.
He was signed by Notts on 1st June 2022, on a three-year deal, having been the National League top scorer the previous season, having bagged 32 goals for Gateshead. Clearly, he has two years left on his contract and whether Notts are promoted will effect decisions from all areas of the club. Just like any football club.
Its worth noting, whilst the spotlight has been on other football clubs, who have splashed out on players, Langstaff was performing for Gateshead with little interest from other clubs - until Notts came along.

Player of the Season: Langstaff

Striker scoops fans' and players' awards

Macaulay Langstaff has been named our 2022-23 Fans’ and Players' Player of the Season.

The two trophies, which will be presented to him by Alex Reedtz and Les Bradd shortly before kick-off on Saturday, adding to a growing collection for the Teessider, who won the Vanarama National League Player of the Month award an unprecedented three times this season.

Langstaff’s 41 goals so far, remarkably all of which have come from open play, mean he’s also destined to finish the season as our top scorer having broken Tom Keetley’s 92-year club record of 39 – while he has also bettered Ricky Miller’s 40 goal-haul to set a National League record.

But his popularity doesn’t only stem from his goals return. Langstaff has been hugely influential in our work off the ball this season, pressing intently from the front from first minute to last in each of his 45 appearances so far.

A joint-statement from our board of directors and head coach Luke Williams reads: “When Macaulay first arrived last summer having performed so impressively for Gateshead, we knew we had signed a good player – but we could never have envisaged how successful his debut season would be.

“To have broken so many records is the stuff of dreams for both him and us and it’s no surprise that his achievements have been recognised by his team-mates and supporters in equal measure.

“We’d like to congratulate Macaulay on this fantastic recognition and look forward to watching him in our forthcoming play-off campaign.”
Langstaff claimed 46.6% of the supporter vote, pipping >>>>

Signing: Macaulay Langstaff

Red-hot forward arrives at the Lane

We have completed the signing of National League North top scorer and Player of the Season Macaulay Langstaff.

The 25-year-old forward bagged 32 goals and claimed 14 assists as he fired Gateshead to the league title last season.

And, after monitoring his progress for some time, we have paid an undisclosed fee to bring the red-hot striker to Meadow Lane on a three-year deal.
A statement from our board of directors reads: “Macaulay possesses great pace, excellent movement and, most importantly, a genuine goal threat.

“His ability to attack spaces behind opposition defences creates chances from nothing and he has the poise and finishing technique to score goals at any level.

“He joins us after an incredible season at Gateshead and we’re delighted to have him on board for the next three years.”

Just checked [out of curiousity] - the Play Off Semi-final for Sunday 7th May - has completely sold out to home fans and nearly sold out in the away end. Could be 18,000 at Meadow Lane. Astonishing for the 5th Tier.

Macca talks about the build up to the National League Play-Off Semi-Final at a sold-out Meadow Lane on Sunday against Boreham Wood.
