Thanks Neil

I’m really sad about this.
Probably the saddest I’ve felt about a Boro manager leaving since Robson.
Steadied the ship and kept us up
Kept us afloat during the awful no crowd season and after the grim Woodgate and pulis era’s put a smile on our faces with with his banter in his press conferences and post match interviews. I do Think he’s partly Responsible for his own downfall in only committing to the end of the season but hey we move on.

Good post I agree. Without him we’d likely be stinking out league 1 with Sunderland. Highlight of our season trying to win the Netto Cup or whatever it’s called.

Warnock got a raw deal — no question about it. I think most agree results haven’t been too good but to dump Neil at this time I think it’s very poor (management) by the club— especially when you listen to NW last post match interview, treated worse than a dog imo.

(echo echo) Just come on message board and this post was top…Nothing but love and admiration for Neil, absolute legend and a pleasure to have such a said legend involved in our history / legacy. (Are you with me?) Just so gutted…Would of loved nothing more than for him to retire with one last promotion and call it a day with the message to Gibbo…”there you go
Son, wish we worked together years ago, liked we always talked about” win two, loose one, win one, loose two, TWO inconsistent and that’s why it sadly had to end. Thank you Neil though from the bottom of my heart…To many press
Conferences for the start to finish you just said you wanted to make the fans happy and proud and under your leadership that’s exactly how I felt. Good night and god bless and thank you for coming back that one last time(?) and saving us from guaranteed League 1 football and all the struggles ever recovering from it…without a young Neil Warnock ofcourse haha long live the king!!! Honestly thanks and best wishes, forever and ever, from a normal honest Boro fan who appreciates all your hard work and effort despite all the no doubt constant numbles and grumbles from Sharon…now go buy a yacht and take that beautiful women around the world…whatever you do do not have a mobile phone or anyform
Of satellite communication on board because you won’t be long before that tracksuit is back on and I’d never want you take all 3 points off the Boro ever again!

Thank you for everything!

(Especially for saving us from the guaranteed inevitable relegation to League 1 before your arrival)

He's done a good job in the last 16 months - poor reward to be sacked now - to me he deserved a full crack at promotion this season. He has not had many resources this season for example why is our squad 23 players and other teams its 25.

He definitely should have stayed until the end of the season with full backing by Gibbo, money wise. If we get in the top six then the critics are correct... or maybe we would have got there anyway?

I loved Neil Warnock's time here. He did the job he was brought in for but was obviously tempted by "one last promotion" push. It's probably true that some of Steve Gibson's team have had him Royally shafted and that's hard to swallow because he's a genuinely nice guy with an impeccable pedigree and someone fans could probably not 'get' until he was Manager of 'their' club. What I can appreciate about this scenario is that his successor has been lined up in advance rather than the 'Fire him and then look' policy that both Boro and others have used in the recent past. Neil was always going to leave at the end of this season and something had to be done - probably no later than this - and Wilder was available. he might not have been a week from now.

Good luck Neil - I'm sure you'll be welcomed back as a spectator with an ovation any time in the future. Happy retirement (?).

Not getting the love in really. Agree with the OP, did ok overall. Did very well sorting out Woodgate's mess and the start to last season was good.

Massively backed in January (he wasn't complaining about the recruitment then) and the wheels fell off. Form has continued in that vein since. It's not half a season that led to this, it's form and performances since last Christmas. He's had plenty of time.

Personally found his "banter" and endless excuses got old fairly quickly (appreciate plenty love him for it). But I've no doubt he tried his best and was fully committed.

So yeah, no hard feelings. The way it's been handled isn't great, but I don't think he can complain about the decision itself. In fact if things have been as bad for him behind the scenes as he makes out surprised he didn't take the decision himself.

My favourite manager we've had in terms of personality, he kept us up and I wish him well, but the results have not been good enough since January and I don't think you can use transfers as excuses for some of our defeats.

I don't really disagree with the decision to part ways, especially when he was leaving in the summer anyway.
