"The Boro to you"....

Did you watch the linked clip from Tyne Tees - some more fantastic Ayresome footage and even General Hospital.

Yes, I've seen that before.
Interesting that the initial plan was 32k capacity rising to 42k with the corners filled in!
Rob,
Any idea what the official capacity of the Riverside currently is?
We seem to fall short of 32k in more recent capacity games.

The stadium had a redesign of plan and contractors. But there was initially planning permission for the East Stand to get a top deck like Sunderland. This lapsed many years ago.
I think it showed tremendous ambition to go from 7000 crowds to a 30k plus Riverside.
The capacity is now around 32k. It was reduced from 35k for the big screen and all the new fixed camera positions that were requirements on our last promotion to the Riverside. Steve Gibson personally sanctioned removal of seats in the East Stand around the new media gantry - he didn't want any obstructed view seats in the Riverside.

Thanks and yes it was interesting to see a very thinly populated Holgate in the clip (easy just to remember the rammed Holgate for big games ).
It clearly was an ambitious gamble to build the Riverside, but it paid off.
