The EURO 2024 Football ⚽, beer 🍺 and music 🎶 MEGA-THREAD

Sat in the crematorium, no drink no music. Just trying to have empathy for people we have lost. I never have empathy, trying to.

I had a run over to Hawes today and picked up a few pieces of cheese from the Wensleydale factory. I love going around the cheese shop and having a good old taste. If only I buy a box of crackers before I went in. 🤣 🤣 🤣

We also called into the Aysgarth Hotel and had our lunch there. We both ordered the chicken pie with a creamy chorizo sauce, chips, veg and onion gravy. I have got to say it is the best pie I have ever had. It was all washed down with a glass of Black Sheep ale.

I am not listening to any music tonight and I have one eye on the cricket and one eye on the football. I've also treat myself to a few Thornbridge Lord Marples for the football.

The Campsite at Hawes has become an annual pilgrimage for us every November. Some good walks, followed by beers in the fountain with good company and a roaring fire in the hearth. And of course some cheese tasting.

Well the tournament has started very nicely, lots of goals and good atmospheres.

Quiet day for me, nice breakfast at Maggie's cafe in Darlington, bit of shopping, piano practice, started my Tantive IV Lego set and watched some of the footy. Father's Day tomorrow and seeing family.

Daughter is at Taylor Swift in Liverpool tonight so she won't be here, but there will hopefully be many more father's days.

So naturally I had to post this.

I don't think this has been mentioned but where did the American woman spring from telling us the in's and out's of var decisions and presumably her take on it?.
Christina Unkel? She's been a FIFA licensed referee since 2013, she's forgotten more about VAR than you'll ever know

I know I post songs/bands/videos that I have directed or had a hand in a fair bit. A lot of them are pretty good. But I have been trawling through some of my less glorious moments this week.
This may be one of them. For @Lefty

I've always really liked this video (and song of course). Kudos from me (y)

Saw the lads play two cracking gigs at the weekend in Stockton and I had a little chat with him about a mutual friend from years back he has with Keir Starmer. Next time I'll mention this video and find out what he really thinks ;)

When they made 12 singles and needed videos, of course, they had no money to spend. It cost about a grand I think. They wanted something memorable ... I think they got that :ROFLMAO: It's good when working with bands that have a reputation for seriousness/ernest demeanor (Go Betweens being another) to get them having a giggle. This was shot on video tape, so I was able to give them a monitor to watch themselves as they writhed about. I suspect Gedge would like it buried.

I so wish I knew this last week!

Not to worry, it's filed away for next time.

Afternoon folks, hope we're all having an enjoyable first week of the Euros.

Back home now after a hectic week taking in England v Serbia last Sunday, but getting back to our apartment at 6am after the horrendous transport issues, then heading over to Arnhem on Wednesday for a fantastic Green Day gig.

Been a great week but glad to be home with Mrs WG, the kids and the dogs.

A little bar we found would definitely have suited @LessoftheLip too...
