Was back in our debut season in the 1st divison, after our 1st ever promotion the previous season & our final season at Linthorpe road before moving to a brand new super stadium the following summer

We travelled to Derby Countys baseball ground (1895 they moved in) on this day (11th October) the very 1st meeting between both clubs, unfortunatly we lost the game 3-2

CH, Abraham Jones scored a Boro penalty, the third away Boro penalty & third different Boro player to score from the spot & our 7th penalty in total as a league club, Robert Watson scored our 2nd goal, his 3rd of the season
John May scoring a brace for Derby with Archie Goodall scoring the winner

Derby County were formed in 1884, similar circumstances to the mighty Boro in how we were formed, probably a lot of other clubs would have similar stories, when Derbyshire County Cricket Club, in an attempt to give players & supporters a winter interest, as well as secure the cricket club extra revenue
