When the mighty Boro won away at Chelsea in the 1st divison, the last time we won at their place too

This was TC's 3rd Boro game since his transfer & 1st away game, our 4th win on the bounce, though the 1st three had been at home & 1st goal we conceded for exactly one month & only our 2nd goal we'd conceded that calander year, we were so tight at the back

Boro won the game 2-1 with John Craggs scoring the opening goal with his 1st top flight goal & Alan Willey with his 3rd of the season, his 1st away goal

Me too, Capy!

I seem to remember hearing that Cooper said he was pointing out that there were two planes flying overhead, and the lino misunderstood his gesture!

Or maybe I’ve made that bit up!

Terry Coopers final league game was away to Everton on the 10th December 1977 in a 3-0 defeat, his fibal cup game for the Boro was a 2-1 hone defeat to Everton on tge 31st October 1977

He scored one 1st team goal which came in a 2-0 win at Liverpool on the 6th March 1976

Think this thread appears every March 22. And every year I dutifully mention I was at the game - the only time I ever saw is win at Stamford Bridge. Mind you that would have been the last time anybody would have seen us win there. The last time we won at Stamford Bridge was then and before that you have to go back to 1938.

I was there too. We looked to be cruising to a big win until the sending off. I remember the 'look lino, two 747s' story doing the rounds. It was bizarre as it took a lot to get sent off in those days.

Chelsea were poor. Their best player was David Hay, a big money signing from Celtic. Hay was in the news shortly after signing. He had gone for a holiday with his family to Cyprus, when Turkish troops invaded. The fighting must have been close, as when he came back for summer training he had what we now call PTSD and this effected his game so much he apparently couldn't kick a ball 10 yards. After watching this match, you would wonder what was the excuse for the other 10.
