Who went Sledging ? cops frustrated

The Gazette said there were over 200 people at Flatts Lane sledging - its too many in lock down- maybe 20 to 30 spread out is not a hazard. I used to walk to Jacksons Bank at the top of Ormesby Bank on snowy sundays with my sledge, loved it when about 9 or 10 years old. I was luck to have a steel framed sledge with 90 degree steering and I used to wax the runners, so it moved well at angles. Some people just had a ICI Fertiliser back, there were tens of thousands of them on Teesside when I was young.

This is a complete one off.

I live in walking distance of Flatts Lane and have walked through that park most weekends including one or two days when kids have been sledging on the slope near the visitors centre.

It‘s normally quiet.

There is a long bank down to a beck at the front of our house, you'd be forgiven thinking we were in Les Gets the amount of people have been sledging here in the last few days.

You cant blame parents for wanting to take their kids sledging, unless you're a miserable **** of course.

Of course not, but surely there has to be a point where the sheer number of people means it's dangerous because that's exactly how the virus spreads?

Not to mention sledging being no fun when there are 100s of people about

I think the sledging itself isn't a massive issue if you can social distance. It's clearly the sheer volume of people.

You'd think at some point families arriving would think 'no thanks'.

Also the injuries are extra strain on the NHS. I broke my arm sledging as a nipper. I actually had it broken for nearly 3 weeks before I went to hospital as my dad just kept saying 'it's fine'.... Northern parenting in the early 80s😂

Redwurzel lucky you having steering on your sledge because you needed it for Jacksons bank with the turns on your way down. I still remember my mate giving it a go and going face first into a tree😂. Good times!
