Worst Ever Boro 11 - We have our team!

He's not the worst but I just want to say that I found Andrew Taylor absolutely infuriating. I have never seen a player that only moves at one speed. He never walked but he never ran. Perpertual jogging.

Not really part of this thread either but you talk about Alan Wright's performance, I haven't seen it, was it worse than Garrido for Man City in the 8-1 game? That might be the single worst performance I have ever seen from a footballer, ever. I don't know how he's still alive.

FMTTMs Left Back is Joe Bolton!

Time to vote for our CB Pairing. To make life easier (for me) can people vote for their one worst CB and we will make the two with the most votes our chuckle brothers.

For me it’s Sean St Ledger. Quite a big money and high profile signing at the time. I was expecting big things from a big talent.

Turned out we signed Bambi on Ice. Made his debut in the 5-0 mauling by WBA and things really didn’t get any better. Had to pay millions just to get rid of him and avoid making the loan permanent. In hindsight he may have had a big part in Gibbo sacking Southgate and years of Championship purgatory for us.

Looking at Wiki his career followed the same trajectory after he left us.

I’d have to disagree re Curtis, he was a solid but unspectacular full back. Certainly shouldn’t be anywhere near this topic in my opinion.

Anyway left back position to be finalised tomorrow morning !
Alan Wright the midget left back it has to be

CB - Phil Whelan and Mick Saxby. This ought to be over in about 15 minutes, zero debate.

You can add Mick Baxter to that if there's a tie breaker, or if Wilder gets involved.

thought it was Branco with 8 votes and Joe Bolton with 8 votes.. what was the decider?

Whelan, Philip.

I could not remember Mick Saxby that a few have named? According to Wikipedia he never played for us, is that right?

Ben Roberts was 21 yrs old and had played so few games before the 43 seconds of our first ever FA Cup.final. But that one misjudgment will forever stay with him because of its consequences.
Our record appearance maker, keeper, Tiny Tim Willianson was picked for an England debut played at Ayresome Park and had a nightmare scoring an own goal. I wonder how Tim would be judged on a similar England list?

Phil Whelan, i think we paid a decent fee as well, absolute donkey, slow, poor on the ball and not particularly great in the air for someone 6'4. Jason Gavin was also useless, never looked like he could make it, took Robbo a few goes to realise that too.

Oh, he definitely turned out for us. Maybe there's some satirical editing of that page to quantify his contribution. Can only assume Wiki prevent negative integers...
