misers

do you know any?

My father in law is 90 and must have well over a million in the bank (and keeps investing in long term bonds). He has never given as much as an ice cream to his grandkids and keeps a spreadsheet of what's in the fridge and freezer. He doesn't pay household bills and also hordes junk. My Mrs says he's just old.
Don't complain. Presumably when he pops it your wife and you will inherit. May he spend less for you.

When they get to that age its not their money it belongs to their heirs so as Zoo says all good.

What are you planning to spend it on?

That true. He may already be aware that one of his son in laws thinks he is a miser so perhaps has already cut them out of his will.
actually he has no other family but dotes on a cat. It's quite comical when I go there. He made a Christmas cake but refused to share it. It's true.

Its a trait of age I think. You develop quite a narrow view and pay a lot more attention to the things you have control over. I see a lot of very well off people worrying about money and spending it at a time of time when they actually rarely spend a thing. Just in case! Often a feeling of obligation to leave something to the family too rather than be frivolous.
