They do have incentivisation through performance based bonuses though, such as promotion/survival etc.

But as with Conte, how do you protect yourself from having to sack someone (and compensate them) when its clearly exactly what they want? Maybe its just impossible, but does make you wonder why clubs are so keen to dish out long contracts to managers.

I don't think Karanka was blameless, but I am certain he needed much much better support after promotion. If Gibson had doubts he should have parted company in the May of 2016.

I think he lost faith with some of the players who got us up. A lot of those signings above were no better than what we had.

Viktor Fischer - a player I'd almost totally forgotten about.

Espinosa was injured, Fisher was injured, Ramirez was ruined by pally fanny, Traore was a genie, Valdes was a tool, Barragan could take a throw in, Fabio was a right back..

De Roon was decent and Chambers was the best of all our signings. I liked Forshaw too

Criminal we didn’t go straight back up the next season!
