Who’s the commentator on radio tees?

I'm not a massive fan of his commentary, but rubbish like this winds me up. He's a Boro fan and Boro commentator, why wouldn't he want them to do well ?

Can I also just point out that for all the re-writing of history there were a number of people on this board, and outside of it, who used to slag Ali off something rotten, accusing him if having "rose tinted glasses" and being "a club mouthpiece".
This

Drury is fine, doesn't try to be Ali and nor should he.

If he could work on one thing it would be to tone down his commentary when the opposition score if I'm distracted for some reason I often can't tell which team has scored. Other than that I prefer watching the iFollow with him and Maddo to the Sky red button coverage.

There are definitely things I think he could improve on, such as getting far too excited about the opposition goals, but I've really mellowed on him after the Covid season when they weren't allowed to travel to away matches.

Some of the opposition commentators were absolutely horrific.

I suppose he's probably a good commentator for the neutral, as he's equally as dramatic whichever way the ball is going.

Ive no issue with him or his commentary, him and Maddo are very balanced and say it as they see it - if the opposition score a cracking goal they say so, its upsetting for sure but you cant shoot the messenger!

No he cheers like a madman man whenever the oppositions score to the point ( as already expressed) that it’s often hard to tell who is in the lead. He’s not on five live.

Ali took it almost as a personal affront whenever the opposition scored oh no no etc

Just my opinion 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have no issue with him or his commentary whatsoever, seems a decent chap and anyone would have a heck of a task to replace Ali (who had plenty of critics of his own, as has been mentioned). There’s far worse out there when I’ve had the misfortune to listen to other regions broadcasts.

Dont mind him at all. It's not an easy job to do at all and I do think they both try and give a balanced view. Obviously they're always going to favour the Boro. You'll never get rid of that unconscious bias.
But if you ever listen to other teams local radio commentary on iFollow......jeez it's like they are watching a completely different sport, let alone a different game.

Agreed! To be a bit constructive (in case he's reading :ROFLMAO:) I think it'd improve a lot if he worked on a few things with Maddo before recording. Half the time he tries taking the p*ss about something it will be something like "Shall I tell the listeners about the hilarious way you eat chips!?" and Maddos just going "I don't know what you're talking about".
Leave the Tees guys alone folks. They are one of us and always give their best. I would rather listen to them that the tv commentators.

It’s a difficult job and his football commentary is ok but he is not very funny and his amusing comments aren’t very amusing. If he just stool to football it would be ok.

My issue with him is that I don’t think he isn’t very funny but he seems to think he is. When the team aren’t doing well he can be a particularly hard listen,

He is actually quite a good communicator and it’s accepted a hard thing to do.

As said above, he has his faults but he's probably better than most local radio commentators.
Agree on a few points though. He's too excited when the opposition score, and his"banter" isn't well recieved, and not well received by Maddo half the time either. Maybe he's just trying too hard and needs to be a bit more natural.

I posted a few year back how annoying he was, especially when the opposition score, he seems to be almost on the verge of being rapturous at letting the listener know we’ve conceded at times. He is also slow to announce a Boro goal, he definitely sounds more low key, the first hint of us scoring is usually Maddo getting vocal with a “get in you beauty“ or similar in the background before Dreary Drury gets round to conveying whats happened. Maddo is a joy to listen to. The guy that fills in for Drury on occasion is a way better commentator. Is it the lad that does the Pools games, not sure on his name. His post match interviews are a bit repetitive too, but that maybe down to matters outside his control tbf.

Don't disagrre with all that except it's not him who does the interviews.
