What do you think will happen with him?

1 year left, clearly not a striker and Carrick doesn’t fancy him in the middle. Surely try and sell if we can as he just doesn’t fit any more. Been a really good player for us but it really is a waste just chucking him on upfront every now and then

Wouldn't be surprised if we cashed in, which is a shame as he's been great for us.

I like his as a midfielder, but he is never in a millions years a striker and I'd prefer we brought in somebody who is rather than force him to play that role.

I think without promotion Carrick will keep hold of him. Versatile and there will be numerous other positions to fill this summer, so Crooksy will be a vital squad player next year.

However - that means the contract situation will need to be addressed as I imagine Crooks himself wont be comfortable sat on 1 year left without some security.

Don't see the point in 'cashing in', we didn't spend much on him, he's a good player to have around, and more importantly does contribute with goals.

If he goes it will be because Carrick doesn't think he's good enough for the setup.

I really like Crooks. I think he's limited as a player but his record of goals for us is really good, especially this season when he's been a bit part player.

I think it will ultimately come down to his personal choice though. He's a great person and loves it round here, but I've heard it from the horses mouth he doesn't enjoy playing up front at all and just wants the opportunity to play back in midfield. I think it's clear that he hasn't got the qualities that Carrick will be looking for in a starting midfielder so, depending on interest from elsewhere, it may be a really amicable decision to part ways.

If he leaves, wish him all the success. Been great for us and is an excellent person to have around the club.

Any transfer fee is not going to be huge and certainly not enough to significantly change the finances of the club.
It’s more the fact he doesn’t suit us though agree the fee won’t be great but he’s not worth keeping just to stick on at the end of a game we’re getting beat on. Need better options from the bench than that

He doesn't really fit anywhere in our current system. His best position would probably be where Akpom plays but he'd be a huge downgrade and we'd be better getting someone that actually suits that position as Chuba's back-up (if he is still here).

He was good in Wilder's 3 man midfield system but we don't play that. I don't agree with just getting rid of anyone that doesn't fit the system because systems change, and managers change, and he might be able to do a good job again if/when we do change manager/system. WE might look very different next year. Carrick won't try and force players into a system if he doesn't have the players. We were lopsided this season (deliberately) because McGree moves all over he pitch and we played with a striker on the right to give Giles space on the left but if we don't sign Giles or can't replace like for like then that system will have to be changed.

He's a bog standard Championship player.

If I was a team at the bottom knowing we'd be fighting relegation, then I'd buy him straight away. If he plays 46 games, he's good for 10/15 goals.

But if we want to be competing at the top end of the league, again, we need better players and options than him unfortunately.

He's been a good player for us, but it may be the time to move on.

He'll have caught the eye of various managers with his goal scoring record and versatility. I like Crooks but I'm not sure he has what Carrick is looking for.

If he goes for a million or two and his wage goes it will leave a squad place for a player fitting the style we play now.

10 to 15 goals is wildly optimistic

10 to 15 goals is wildly optimistic

How?

He scored 10 last season in 40 games.

He scored 7 this season and that's when he only started 18 games.

He was on 6 before January, when he lost his place in the side.

If he'd played the full season, he'd have comfortably been in double figures for us.

He scored 10 last season and then 7 this season.

Last season he averaged a goal every 349 minutes - based on 90 mins and 46 games, that would equate to about 11/12 goals

This season he has averaged a goal every 256 minutes - again, based on 90 mins and 46 games, that would equate to about 16/17 goals.

I don't think double figures for Crooks in a full season (without injuries and suspensions (highly unlikely)), is unrealistic.

There is an argument for keeping him for his knack of goals and versatility. I think people often forget that we need a squad, its arguably squad depth that's cost us this season, sell him and its yet another player to be replaced who probably isn't on big bucks.

There is definitely an argument for keeping him. I just worry about his motivation if he’s just seen as a bit part player coming on in a position he doesn’t particularly enjoy and In my opinion doesn’t suit. If we stayed played how we did under Wilder then he would be a valuable squad member.

He may just see his contract out here of course.
