Your three best and worst Boro managers

Of course they didn't play for free but he had to rely on loans and free transfers such as Kebano, Watmore, Bolasie etc.....
Good players, and bolasie was on a fortune. He also spent a fortune on Chuba then didn’t get a tune out of him (pun intended). Bettanelli, bolasie and kebano were all on prem wages and would have been far more expensive than kids like archer.

He also signed Hall, Stojanovic and Roberts.

He didn’t get a fortune but he got enough to do better than he did

Considering he was Maanger for the only cup win it’s surprising how many spell McClaren incorrect.
I know it is amazing. It is an unusual spelling but after all he achieved at Boro Steve McClaren probably earned the right to see his name spelled with that second C.

Why would anyone put Neil Warnock as one of the worst 3 managers, he saved us from relegation and nearly got us to the play offs without ANY MONEY TO SPEND.
He also developed youngsters like Tav and Jones...
Idiots !!!!!
It's just personal (dis)taste - the thread is titled YOUR worst three Boro managers. Objectively, he did average. I just didn't like him being manager of my club - because he's a snide little moaner who loves to big himself up.

But he saved us from the drop - that would be a disaster at the best of times but that was the worst of times - at a time of covid - the consequences would have been horrifying.

To be fair, that side should have been nowhere near the drop, anyone with a modicum of talent would have had that side midtable. His ~1.6 ppg was hardly miracle working

Matty Crooks said in his recent BBC TEES interview that he had a lot to thank Neil Warnock for and he respected him as a manager and as a person.....and guess what, he actually met him unlike some who have warped views based on nothing.....

There are loads of players and managers who have met him and hate him, unlike you…what’s your point.

Jason Puncheon, Djed Spence, Chris Wilder, Roy Hodgson, Nino Sanyo, Rafa Benitez they can’t all be wrong

I've never met you but I've just decided 👍
That's my point.....!!!!

Best:

1) Karanka - Brought us back into the Premiership. Absolutely controlled games. Ended on a sour note but had two brilliant seasons with him in the Championship with win after win.

2) Robson - The manager we had when I first fell in love with Boro. Deserves this spot for Juninho.

3) MaCLaren - Europe 😍 a cup 😍 a hair island 😍

Worst:

1) Strachan - Almost killed us. Awful football, looked like he wasn’t arsed, signed Kevin Thomson - unforgivable.

2) Pulis - Watching his teams play made me want to stick needles in my eyes.

3) Wilder - Never seen such arrogance in someone so blatantly average. The managerial equivalent of Richarlison.

The Pulis play-offs weren’t good but neither were the Carrick ones. We were poor across all 4 legs.

If people didn’t like Pulis’ whole tenure, fine, but I find it odd that so many seem to judge him entirely by those 2 Villa fixtures. I would never judge any manager on 1-2 matches, just as I wouldn’t Carrick.

Best
1. McClaren (he wasn’t my “favourite” but I think he did the best, even if he was also the best resourced)
2. Robson (probably my favourite but looking back we did do some bonkers stuff when he was around)
3. Lawrence (great achievement in 91-92, I only caught the end of the Rioch era when things had gone a bit sour so he edges it above Bruce, hopefully Carrick takes this spot soon. Karanka is nowhere near top 3 after the woeful PL season).

Worst
1. Woodgate (I like that he’s redeeming himself now but his spell in charge was just abysmal).
2. Strachan (also woeful though I didn’t hate him as a person like many did).
3. Wilder (never warned to him as a person and after a decent start we were awful from the spring of last year until the autumn).

Fourth would be Southgate, then Monk, and Agnew would have to be in there somewhere. For me, just my personal view, Warnock and Pulis were nowhere near as bad as the above 6 and both managers left us in better league positions than they found us.

On a side note on this thread I will tell you my level of petty. On football manager I use the in-game editor and give Wilder the Shef Wed job, i take immense and immature satisfaction at checking his happiness occasionally and seeing that 'he has doubts and feels he is at the wrong club'.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
