Any season ticket holders thinking of wrapping in yet

82-86 is the only time I've not had a season ticket since 74.
I stood on the Holgate those 4 seasons.
I got a season ticket again in 86 because I had a job and I had a belief in the club again.
Had one since.

I actually may not renew next season. Not because we are a poor side, or because we are low in status, or even if we have dropped in to the third tier - been there before. Not because of ticket prices either. Not because of models, or systems, or the manager.

If I don't renew it will be because I have finally lost so much belief in my club under its owner.
A bit like back in 1982.
I know Gibson is not the same as Charlie Amer, I don't need a history lesson.
But I do fear he is becoming as clueless.

600 quid to use your phone to gain entry on a Tuesday night in January verses Cheltenham......
Interesting you should mention Cheltenham. They are on the verge of breaking the Football League record for the longest time after the start of the season without scoring a goal. If they don't score in the first eleven minutes of their next game they have the record.

At my age (same for my wife) we need to keep going. We need to have something to look forward to every other week even if the experience may turn out to be negative.

At what price point would those 'diehards' draw the line at renewing?
It’s all relative to what you think you can afford isn’t it?

Have I paid too much based on the football I’ve witnessed so far this season? It certainly feels like it.

Could I afford the season ticket costs this season? Yes.

Would I pay the same again next season? I probably would.

As previously mentioned, a match day is also a day I meet up with friends and family who also go to the game. It’s the one consistent event which happens where we all get together before or after a match.

There are other things involved that don’t make it a direct comparison against Cost vs. Product. If that was the case, it’d be hard to justify most renewals based on some of the football we’ve watched since Southgate’s relegation season.

I agree. It is the routine, the social event, the coming together that I go for. Bringing generations together, family and friends together. It's the emotional bit that keeps me going, sometimes despite the football.

I will never stop following the Boro home and away. Even non league if required. I'm obsessed and have being for 50 years. It makes me laugh when I hear fans say Carrick out after 7 games. It makes me angry when I hear fans booing the team.
My 14 year old son asked a question at half time at Sheff Wed!
He said " Dad why do some boo our own team, surely we need support not booing "
I said I wouldn't respond too well if people booed me in my job....
Keep the faith ALL BAD RUNS PASS IN TIME
UTB always

I don’t think it is relative to what you can afford but more so whether you think the value of the product is worth paying the price.

I can understand the value of intangible’s you place on going to the game. I get that. I can comfortably afford a season ticket but I choose not to because I don’t think the price meets the value for me personally. That stems from not just the price but the product.

Football is unique in its elasticity but I’m now at a point in my life where I place a higher value on other aspects of my life so that pricing elasticity doesn’t effect me as much as say a besotted 18 year old travelling home and away with his mates.

I feel like the club take the ****, so they don’t get my custom in the form of a season ticket anymore. I pick and choose my games now so obviously that breaking price point as well as the club and the product they’ve produced came at a lower price than it may for others.

In respect to the relativity of whether you be an afford it, I’ve worked for a few people that have a lot of money and they’re some of the most frugal that I’ve met. They will refuse to pay for something if they don’t think it’s worth what it’s priced at.

That’s fair enough and it’s different for everybody. People make their own personal choices based on circumstances and opinion. Not everyone who attends goes for the same reasons I also do. You make the decision that’s best for you.

I think in general a lot of football is overpriced these days. But then again, so is the cinema and other leisure activities so either way, if I chose to fill the football void with something else I’ll probably be no better off.

The club have let themselves down over the years with a few things in my eyes but I would say with some of none football related fans based issues.

Recruitment has been dire in the main, but we’re not the only club. We’ve taken a total change in direction with strategy this year and it’s looking a very high risk one now. My hope is that we gel and start improving. Mid table is looking like a successful season but even that looks like a tall order based on our early performances.

This season feels like 1989/90 - something isn't quite right - that season we felt we were a top 6 club - Mogga, Rippers, Pearsy, Coops, Parky, Bernie, Hammy, Nookie Bear - all still there and got us promoted in 1988, but we went into the last game of the season in the bottom 3.

That team would destroy this team

Baird and Bernie would destroy this defence
