Villa bid for Morgan Rogers

Loan back is iffy, for reasons stated. In his head, he's already gone. I say give him a new contract, same duration, on slightly improved terms, with a big bonus if we get promoted and an agreement that if we don't he can leave this summer for a fee of say, 20 mil. That way he knows he's probably getting his big move to the Prem anyway - or he's in it with us (when he'll start more) - and he has an incentive to keep performing for us.

Sheff Utd/Villa have a similar thing going on with Archer.
Villa sold him for £18m but there is a clause that villa MUST sign him back for the same fee if Sheff Utd go down, So Archer is playing now knowing 100% he'll be at a PL club at the start of next season no matter what happens, no real drive to do well for Sheff Utd one way or another other than his own professionalism. I think Villa are looking to offload that Jhon fella and see Rogers as his replacement so i can't see a loan back as an option here, but the world of football is baffling and stranger things have happened.

Surely there are some other villa fringe or young players we could wrap up in a deal.

There no way Villa will loan him back, they'll see Rogers as an understudy to Watkins. Dhuran isn't the same type of player, already reports that W.Ham & Fulham are looking to take him on loan, so the wheels are in motion. My guess is that a transfer agreement is just about in place and Boro have told Villa to stop leaking out to the press or it's going nowhere, they like to their business quitely these days. . Boro will want Rogers to play tomorrow night, then he will be off to do his medical and wrap up personal terms, the money will be used to bring a striker in, I'd imagine that will be announced at the same time as Rogers leaving. Fee - £8m + add ons, rising to £12m with a sell on clause with Boro getting the £8m upfront, with £4-5m being spent on a new No.9

I wouldn't be surprised at all if something is agreed in principle and they are delaying the deal till after the Chelsea match.

Omari Kellyman has 4 in 4 for the U21. He'll do. He has a look of Ollie Watkins and when he misses chances, it rolls off the tongue. FFS KELLYMAN

Scoring goals for the U21s doesn't mean much.

They had a striker called Caleb Chukwuemeka last season who scored 7 in 9 games... He's now a 21 year old free agent who can't get a club.

I picked him purely on his surname and the fact he has scored at least 2 goals. The other options Kobie Moore and Travis someone and they have boring names, however... Imagine when Kobie shoots, the whole ground could shout KOBIIIIIII..... The kids would love that.

You've completely forgot man citys percentage in those figures rumoured to be around 20%

I think Kellyman is actually fairly highly rated to be fair. He's featured in a few cup games this season.

Getting tedious now just go already let us move on

I don't see any benefit to rushing it and getting less than we potentially could.
I think we'll need him tomorrow too, and if he plays a blinder, that might add a couple of millions to his value.

I can imagine that Villa probably hoped to get him signed before tomorrows game, because if he does play particularly well it's a big shop window and it might alert other potential clubs.

"After scouts blown away"

Am i missing something with Rogers?

He's looked good in patches but thats it. I doubt he'd even be starting if it wasn't for the injuries.

Compare him to the impact players like Ramsey, Archer and Ramirez had......Rogers doesn't come close.

£10/12m can't (and wont) be knocked back in my opinion.

I agree with this - especially as we are not waiting on a deal to sign anybody else. Get the most we possibly can, see how we go the rest of the season and have a big war chest to fill in the gaps in the summer
