I believe the Club wanted an area of the Stadium that was more family friendly i.e. no swearing, no alcohol while leaving other areas of the stadium more adult themed. It's definitely not, but why can't this be extended to other areas of the ground? Many ST holders have sat in a specific stand/block for years......then when they have kids and want to take them to a game they need to sit in one specific area of the ground. Or pay for it.
And why have they made it difficult to buy tickets there? Despite looking a number of times, and seeing online the section greyed out, it became apparent that tickets are available....... if you phone the ticket office.
If people can buy tickets online without any checks to the dates of birth I sssume a group of boozy, swearty blokes could just buy a group of tickets in the family end to try and save a few quid. Maybe parents feel more reassured some extra checks are completed.
At Ayresome there were family areas and from the year dot - the Boys End. The Boys end was physically walled off.
