They hardly got off to a great start, but from game week 8 we have matched them for pointsThey started the season from game 1, we started at game 8.

Sakomoto has been very good.Simms, 6.2m deal rising to 8m with add-ons . Played 12 starts , scoring 3 in 2 of the games. Subbed on 15 times , 1 goal in 2 of those games. Not great so far, to be fair
Since end of Nov Coventry have being driven on by Sakomoto RM (£2m) with 7 goals in 5 matches in 15 appearances.
That's a fair point. I don't totally agree because, like us, they not only had to replace their two star players they also had to replace several key loans. They had £15m more than us to do it with but I think even managing to get close to last season's position gives them something to build on. I don't know who oversees recruitment at Coventry but their ability to spot and develop a player is really, really good. If they can sustain this over the next 3-5 years people will be talking about the Coventry "model" just as much as the Brentford one.they've spent 2.5x to effectively stand still at around 6th place (*in fact I have them probably finishing 7th). In those terms they haven't been successful. I'm not sure if they've developed more saleable assets either. To invest 30m euro in your squad in the champo and drop a couple of places isn't a sign of good investment.
Sakomoto is Jones with an end-product. When he came on against us, we couldn't get near him.Sakomoto has been very good.
Exactly. Our side has been decimated for most of the season. Completely jinxed. They haven’t had any injuries.
I’d love to finish above them. They sp&nked all their money in the summer, from selling Gyokeres. We only spent half what we could and have stayed level, despite having a rediculous injury crisis all season. We now have the money from another sale and they haven’t really got any big sellable assets. I think we’ll be 10+ points above them next seasonLooking at the table tonight, I remembered this thread. Six weeks ago Coventry had done everything right had a fantastic manager and recruitment team and every player was measurably superior to ours. In contrast we were run by chancers and fools (or something like that)...
(Not everyone said this just a few)
One place and two points is the difference now, though they do have a game in hand. What a difference an unbeaten run can make. I don't think either team will make the playoffs and even if either of us does we're neither of us strong enough to stand much chance.
Does that make us better positioned for next season...
This doesn't match reality at all. As I said in post #58 they have spent what they brought in and have stayed the same, which is what you would expect. They got 70 points last season, 7 points from their last 6 games will see them on the same points total. I think they will probably get more and they are going to Wembley in a fortnight for an FA Cup semi final so they have stood still, if not slightly improved with a net spend of £0.I’d love to finish above them. We have gone backwards unless we win our final 5 games which will give us 76 vs last season's 75. We haven't stayed level because we weren't level. We were better than them last season and this season we aren't.

That’s one way to look at it. We have spent less than we brought in for a couple of seasons, and are within a few points of them, instead of a few ahead. There’s a strong argument that with the huge injury problems, we could still be ahead of them and indeed, we could still be ahead at the end. This doesn't match reality at all. I don't think there's anything of our season's performance compared to theirs to gloat about (unless there is a very unusual set of final results).
Think that’s harsh on Bangura, we just haven’t seen enough to knowIn the main we did really well with summer buys dieng rogers latte vdb all super signings. Fullbacks really poor engel bangura and even thomas poor. Silvera not convinced either. Greenwood terrible
