If I gave you £500

Just bought a new very posh patio heater. Arrives in the next few days all being well. Will not get much use until the autumn. However it will look pretty until then.

I updated the post about that while you were typing.
I thought the old one had broken. So we had to use our gas bbq as a stand-in heater on our terrace last Saturday. For a small birthday party for my wife. With our two friends that we are in a bubble with.

So I ordered a new posher one. Just in case we might need to use it late on an evening in the next month or two.

Promised the old one to the son and partner of our friends. As I thought it might not take them much to repair it.

A day or two later I tried it out again as I was cleaning it up for them. Then realised it was a sticky valve on the starter mechanism. So it works OK for them now without them having to fix anything.

Yes, it was more than 500 quid for the new one.

We have recovered quite a lot of money from holidays and UK trips we had planned for the last year or so. So we are spending it on improving things in our apartment.

£500? Must be a good 'un! I got one for £150ish and although it was a dog to put together it kicks out some good heat. Keeps blowing over though in the wind.

It is the sort of thing that you see outside some hotels and other businesses. Around 50cm square profile and around 1.3 to 1.4m high. With space for the canister to be housed below. Then a 3 sided glass display with some fake logs in it on the top part. With the 4th side metal on the top part to reflect some heat back and block the view.

You can get them with glass on 4 sides. However we will be using it backing on to a wall so better not to see the wall through the"windows". As I said, it is to look pretty as well as be functional.
