Daily Mail hatchet job on Boro and Wycombe

That’s the most nonsense I have read today.

Our losing streak is irrelevant. We finished 6th out of all the teams that followed the rules. 6th = playoffs.

Why is it relevant that Leeds beat us twice the following season? Apart from anything else we had a weaker team then (sold players due to FFP, Derby take note…)

And can everyone please stop reporting that Derby were deducted 21 points because of the cheating. It was 9 points. Not nearly enough. And how does any Derby points deduction help Boro anyway?

Lazy and ill informed journalism.

That terrible journalist was stupid enough to put it all in writing, will be interesting to see what Gibsons legal team make of the rubbish posted. Seems to me they are unduly interfering in an ongoing legal case of which they know no facts..

This has the Derby fans all excited....
Thats three of us posted that article:love:
Another bone-head "journalist" who knows sod all.
It gives us all more reason to justify the belief the EFL is just a "power" game.
Let them, have their big day out....

That article takes lazy, irresponsible, unresearched journalism to a new low. He appears to have bought the Administrators mis-information and the more extreme key warriors of the Derby message board wholesale. His sensationalist view bears little resemblance to the truth but I suppose that is what you get if The Mail is your paper of choice. I composed a reply to completely refute his ridiculous rant but then found I would have to register my details on their site which I refuse to do. I hope people in a position to torpedo this idiot respond without delay.

I’ve never liked Samuels. It’s a very poorly researched and poorly written article. Seems to be the norm on this subject that people with little to no expertise are willing to confidently spout b***ks.

We have a weak case, I’d agree. It certainly isn’t as simple as saying that because Derby cheated we’d have been 6th. But equally the arguments made around the club’s role in it getting to this point and the assessment that we have to prove we definitely would have won the play offs is obviously nonsense.

Samuels is a massively overweight London hack who has made his way down in his career from writing in the Times to now putting out stuff like this for the Daily Mail and GQ Magazine.

Lots of smoke was blown up his backside earlier in his career by the winning of some internal awards that allowed him the title at one time “Sports Journalist of the Year 2011” However like some tired old sign in an Indian Restaurant that says it was Indian restaurant of the Year in 1994 he has long past his sell by date and become just a lazy writer and I wouldn’t have had the misfortune to read his irrelevant crap if it wasn’t for three separate posters linking it.

Do ignore.

West ’am fan innit?

Look at the b***ks he’s spouting about the ‘ammers cheating. And the fact he that he wrote ’arry and Rosie’s autobiography.

In short, he’s peddling absolute bull**** in a bull**** rag and has put zero effort into his article. Whether that’s because he’s lazy, thick or both who knows?

I really do think it is time to take a step back and look at the situation objectively. Our case is flimsy at best. Constructed on a base of what’s, ifs and maybes our position really doesn’t look strong at all.

Will upset many on here but the fact of the matter is all of our case is based without foundation at all.
That’s the top and bottom of it.

I keep hearing this over and over again but surely the way Derby were operating gave them a huge advantage over us.

If they'd have stuck to the rules and lived within their means would they have attracted players like Mason Mount and Harry Wilson? Probably not.

Would they have finished above us without those players? Absolutely no chance.

I don't think our claim is as ludicrous as people think, the one thing I think Derby fans have a point with is where those claims would stop. Can we also sue clubs like Leeds and Villa who bent the rules?

If it was so flimsy, it would have been dealt with when it started over a year ago.
