Northern Echo - Karl Darlow is our top GK target

Part of me actually hopes that Wilder just lets Brynn and Hemmings battle it out in pre season for the number 1 spot. You never know, one of them may turn out to be a diamond.

If that plan goes t**ts up and they are both crap/bottle it - get a keeper in January.

We can’t take a risk like that, surely you know the importance of a good goalkeeper? Wilder won’t **** about he will get us a goalie he feels can get us promoted.

Can't say I've ever paid Darlow too much attention to have a proper opinion of him, but his name was always popping up when my Geordie mates were moaning on throughout this season, and they couldn't wait for Dubravka to be back.

yeah my thoughts exactly, except the Woodman bit, never seen him have a good game, think he is awful.

If Bournemouth get a keeper in, which I think is unlikely, we should go to them for Travers, he's exceptional.

travers has been fantastic this year, won all our player of the season awards. we're worried about losing him to newcastle or spurs!

As long as Brynn and Hemmings don't get forgotten, I'm happy.

In addition I would add that I watched closely on a number of kick-ins when Steele and Jones were in competition for the no 1 jersey. Steele was a noticable bit sharper and more accurate than Jones. I have no doubt that Jones woud have saved Billy Sharpe's goal for Donny where Steele did his porpose/dolphin impersonation and the ball bounced in off the post and his head

Keepers are very exposed and those prone to error are obvious as we have seen this year

Can I ask why? Iverson hasn't had a great season and Buanzu is just a fancy foreign name.
Porstmouth fans rave about Buanzu, when ive seen him a few times and looks like a very good goal keeper and perfectly suited to our style, very front foot with a high starting position, good with the ball.

Iverson, in the games We've played against preston he stood out for me.

Always wanted him to do ok, but the blooper he was dropped for in his last game for Newcastle was Lumley-esque.
Also remember him playing here for Forest a few years ago and being terrible.
Having said that he's had a few ok games for Newcastle judging by MOTD highlights

The reason I would take Darlow if this is genuine is because he can make some excellent saves, Lumley and Bettinelli were dreadful at stopping goals. There is more to goalkeeping of course but a solid keeper who can keep the ball out of the net is enough at this level I feel.

Are we going to advertise who the main targets are throughout the window?
There seems to be a level of confidence to this story that tells me it’s an almost certainty that we are signing him. Even mentions could be done befor the window officially opens

Not sure of my opinion on that, I forget why he was dropped by Newcastle in the first place.

“running the rule” seemed to have dropped off the radar of transfer gossip articles in recent years… good to see it making a comeback

Whilst I'd be keen for Brynn and Hemming to keep progressing I'd be amazed if either are battling it out for a first team spot next season. Think it could even be a stretch to see them as 2nd and 3rd choice, wouldn't surprise me if we signed two keepers (if Lumley and Daniels leave) with Brynn or Hemming as 3rd choice.
