As you say, nostalgia and history is all well and good but who wants to look at the level 'Rust' from Call of Duty every day for a trip down memory lane? I don't imagine it was a pleasant place to work at the best of times anyways. The irony of romanticizing some decaying and useless piles of rust, whilst complaining about an active and useful industry.
The steelworks have always been an eyesore to me.
It was fair enough when they were in use, but it's just depressing having derelict ruins on the horizon when I step outside my front door.
I appreciate that it will hold more meaning and nostalgia to those who worked there, but I'll personally be glad when it's cleared.
I worked there for 20+ years. While there are times I'd love to be back there working (and having a laugh) with the brilliant people I worked with, I have next to no attachment to the remaining shells of the industry. The irony of romanticizing some decaying and useless piles of rust, whilst complaining about an active and useful industry.
