Proper going to miss this view when its gone...

I get the nostalgia, but they need to go.
Cost of maintaining out of commission steelworks buildings is huge.

Jobs created to decommission. Jobs created in development of new industry. Long term jobs at new green energy facilities.

Yeah. If look further left and you see the windfarm ruining our views

The irony of romanticizing some decaying and useless piles of rust, whilst complaining about an active and useful industry.

The steelworks have always been an eyesore to me.

It was fair enough when they were in use, but it's just depressing having derelict ruins on the horizon when I step outside my front door.

I appreciate that it will hold more meaning and nostalgia to those who worked there, but I'll personally be glad when it's cleared.

As you say, nostalgia and history is all well and good but who wants to look at the level 'Rust' from Call of Duty every day for a trip down memory lane? I don't imagine it was a pleasant place to work at the best of times anyways.

I worked there for 20+ years. While there are times I'd love to be back there working (and having a laugh) with the brilliant people I worked with, I have next to no attachment to the remaining shells of the industry.

Me and the Mrs take the dog for his walks to Seaton. She says the industry is an eyesore, I tell her its our heritage and what defines us. She then looks bemused. I dont know?

Buy everything in cheaply from overseas and embrace the global economy.

The accountants and economists convinced everybody a few years back that this was how to run the U.K. economy.

They are the real vandals who have decimated our steelworks and our country.
