Kieron Scott

I wouldn't want a manager that doesn't think they can do better than us. Ambition is a good thing. As long as they are open and honest about it up front then that's fine. We'll happily bin them off if they are no good so no issue if they want to go to bigger and better things if they are doing well. It's Scott's job to ensure that long term the club can operate the same way under different managers.

Same for players. We should never sign a player that sees us as the peak of their career unless we are back among the top half of the PL.

That's true. But you've got to earn that move first. You can't just stroll up and almost instantly start applying for jobs before you've even achieved anything. I'm sure the club would understand ambition if an opportunity appeared after some success. Or at least an attempt at seeing through the job you were brought in for.

Wilder clearly applied for the Burnley job last season and quite possibly some of the ones in the summer as well. That Burnley thing completely derailed our season and form and killed our playoff chances. I’m not surprised the top brass are p1ssed off at him. It’s just a pity he didn’t get the Burnley job we may of had a much smoother summer then.

If wilder applied for the Burnley job and we knew about it he wouldn’t have seen the summer out

So those on here they doubted it ???

How do they feel now

Think the 3 at the top of the table at the club are deluded if they think we aren't a stepping stone for 'managers', 'head coaches' and players. We are currently and historically have been a top third second tier team, anyone with ambition will want to go as high in the game as they can. If that coincides with bringing some success to our club and taking us a step further then it should be embraced.
Theres a difference of being a stepping stone like mcClaren and being here 6 months and touting other jobs.

If he had got the job and kept them up.. Leeds would have been relegated!

Odd one isn't it.

I guess none of us really know why he was interested in those jobs in the first place - particularly Sunderland (who are arguably a step backward for him).

In his defence, I find it incredibly difficult to believe that his plan all along was to join Boro and leave after four months to pursue an opportunity elsewhere. His house only went on the market back end of last year I think (presumably to move to the North East?)

I still think it's more likely that a fairly hasty agreement was reached when he was appointed which both sides reneged on to some respect. He clearly had issues with the recruitment structure but I guess none of us will know what was agreed up front - did either side overstep their previous agreed boundaries? Did those boundaries change over time?

He's hardly a shrinking violet so I'd expect his side of events to follow soon, unless he's under NDA as part of his severance, in which case this could be seen as a cheap shot?

The issue with Wilder, is he believes he's a top 10 premier league manager, to come to Boro was a step down in his head. Seems to me the club sold the vision to him, after the January transfer window he thought he had been sold a pup, and decided to try and move on if the opportunity came along.
I for one, after Pulis, Warnock & Wilder am very happy we have got off the manager merry go round and are putting our trust in a rookie, fresh ideas, hopefully buys in to the club's long term philosiphy. We can't keep turning 10-15+ players over every season and a manager and whole coaching staff every 18 months and expect to progress. I'd be happy if Carrick got us consistently at the top of the championship over the next few seasons, progressed 4/5 players form the academy in to the first team, and then moved on to a premier league team. At least we will have made some progress instead of just going round in circles.
