Kieron Scott

It was obvious that Scott was keen to set the record straight around Wilder's wandering eye and the suggestions that some players were signed without his agreement.

I've also read many comments suggesting that Gibson's consistent overruling/interfering will see Scott walk - I think his comments and demeanour put that nonsense to bed.

The issue with Wilder, is he believes he's a top 10 premier league manager, to come to Boro was a step down in his head.
Yes this he didn’t exactly hid it either did he.

His contemptuous attitude in press conferences especially towards the end.

So gaz explain the comment from a very senior member of our club all but saying that to the worlds media
Those comments are not evidence of applying for the Burnley job. It could be a number of things he’s referring too. He could be paranoid like the rest of us

when you consider just how poor the players were performing under him this really starts to make sense now. i was one of those giving him the benefit of the doubt as reports of him looking at other clubs were purely rumours.
No it was toxic you could feel it something was very wrong

I got told by a very reliable source..

also there was a suggestion that he met with staff for the Bournmouth job and was caught on a mobile phone which what sent to the players WhatsApp group. VERY specific info from someone who doesn’t get into speculation etc.
The Bournemouth stuff feels more plausible than the Burnley stuff

The issue with Wilder, is he believes he's a top 10 premier league manager, to come to Boro was a step down in his head. Seems to me the club sold the vision to him, after the January transfer window he thought he had been sold a pup, and decided to try and move on if the opportunity came along.
I for one, after Pulis, Warnock & Wilder am very happy we have got off the manager merry go round and are putting our trust in a rookie, fresh ideas, hopefully buys in to the club's long term philosiphy. We can't keep turning 10-15+ players over every season and a manager and whole coaching staff every 18 months and expect to progress. I'd be happy if Carrick got us consistently at the top of the championship over the next few seasons, progressed 4/5 players form the academy in to the first team, and then moved on to a premier league team. At least we will have made some progress instead of just going round in circles.
McGree for £3m was some investment
Balogun & Connolly in on loan were a statement of intent
Caolan Boyd-Munce was a canny signing too

Some pup to be sold there like!!

He used the momentum gained from Warnock’s squad to sell himself to Burnley

Hmm.. but the rumours, generally reliable sources saying much the same. The weird as fool response at the time.. the lengthy it took to correct that and set the record straight.. proper suspect. Plus.. digs left right and centre from the most resent presser alluding to the very same.

The Bournemouth stuff, the Sunderland stuff.. it follows a pattern of behaviour.

There’s no smoke without fire.. Wilder left with no eyebrows and the Kieran Scott was carrying a fire extinguisher!

It's a bit naive in some respects though, how many managers are really in it for the long term? Do we think Carrick won't be off if he is a success and a big job comes along? Are we loyal to our managers during bad patches?
I agree and it's a two way deal really. If you bring in an ambitious manager, which hopefully we'll do again in the future, you need to keep your end of the deal in terms of recruitment and ambition etc or they're cetain to be looking elsewhere..

Exactly his reaction to the speculation said it all.

It went down hill from there.

Mcgree - definitley fits the bill of the type of player we are looking to sign long term, I guess Wilder must have liked him because he played
Balogun & Conolly - Wilder openly said they were last minute loan deals when other deals didn't come off. He clearly didn't fancy Balogun, when he scored 2 in 3 games, finally hit some form, Wilder dropped him, then later stated he didn't want to be here.
Connolly - Who knows why Wilder played him as much as he did, my feeling is he was making a point to the club - this is what you get when you sign s**t players I didn't want
Boyd-Munce - hasn't got anywhere near the first team picture still to this day

I think given our January league position, Wilder would have expected a lot more than he got to achieve 'his' goal of getting himself back in the premier league as soon as possible, at that point it looks like he started to look elsewhere to back in the PL.
