Places or Buildings that blew your mind.

London - Still the greatest city on earth, and it never fails to amaze me that I get to work and socialize in it whenever I want. So much history, culture and contrast between say Knightsbridge and Shoreditch means you never get bored of it.

Alot of people still seem to slag London off and in all honestly I don't understand why.

My and my girlfriend went for the first time (I've only been for football) in 2019 a few weeks before Christmas and we loved it. We now go every year and we're taking the oldest this year.

Arsenal's stadium is far better than the new Spurs stadium IMHO.
Really? I've heard people argue both ways. I remember being outside the Emirates and thinking it was incredible, then got inside and thought it was the greatest place on Earth and i remember a feeling of envy thinking their fans get to come here every other week, its an amazing place to watch football.

I've only been when we played them, so based on one visit.

1) I got drenched as the roof didn't cover all rows of the seating
2) The concourse got really slippy with all the rain, which made it like an ice ring
3) The stupid, no bags allowed, rule meant my mate missed the game as he didn't fancy leaving his work laptop in the school opposite
4) They ran out of Neck oil or gamma ray (whichever one they sell) before kick off

I text my Spurs ST holding mate about the first two when he asked whether I thought the ground was amazing, I said no and explained why and his response was "yeah but that only happens when it rains" which you would have thought they would have thought about when building a ground in North London !

Iguassu Falls in Argentina/Brazil. Hits every sense full on and overwhelms you.
Boranup Forest around Caves Rd in South Western Australia. That whole area is special.
Venice is simply unique.

The Grand Canyon from the top and from the Colorado.
Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) and King's Canyon in the Red Centre of Aus.
Vancouver island and BC coast.
Na Pali coast of Kauai.
Shamwari Game Reserve - Eastern Cape SA.
Freo to Perth from the Swan river. (Far prefer it to Sydney Harbour).

I hope to be able to add sights from NZ, Vietnam and Machu Picchu if I make them.

"Yeah its lovely in July"
You'd think for the price and the NFL, boxing etc the big noise around it being a billion quid arena they'd have a complete roof that covered the entire place like the millenium stadium.

Venice
In November, in the rain, flooded squares walked / paddled for miles. ( bumped in to Johnny Depp, which was nice.). Un-worldly Magnificent. Been back in summer. Would go again and again, but winter time only.

The only place that stopped me in my tracks. We'd travelled by train through the Alps after a night in Lyon. We walked out of the station onto the top of some steps and there it was, all in front of us. The canal busy with boats of every type and people bustling around, the sound of different languages and the smell. It was like walking onto a film set just as the director shouted 'action'.

Driving up the west of Scotland through Glencoe and Nevis
Grand Canyon as a thunderstorm approached
Halong Bay Vietnam
The Bekaa Valley and Baalbeck
Lincoln Cathedral

Top of the pops, though, would be - Petra

Mocha in Yemen. Gave its name to the coffee and chocolate. Was Yemen's primary port before Hudaydeh and Aden were built. Its history is fascinating. It had a lodging house of the Prophet Muhhamad which discriminated against nobody and was open to all travellers. Its been attacked by the British and the Egyptians. Its a small place, but I loved its charm and history of coffee trading with Somalia.

As a little kid, emerging from the stairs in the east end seats at Ayresome park and seeing the beautiful vivid green grass for the first time.
I knew instantly it was something special.
I've posted this before, I'm not originally from Boro (or the North East) but my first game at Ayresome Park was when I was 18 (1986). I'll never forget the stadium and pitch coming into view when I walked from the steps at the back of The Holgate, I had exactly the same feeling of it being something special, it still gives me goosebumps.

I missed 2 home games in 11 years after that first visit. Unfortunately work took me away in 1997.
