Trust me, Viv. We were terrific against QPR, Derby and Sheffield United, but have slipped a lot in the last two and were very fortunate to draw last night. The injurieshave taken their toll, with nine first team players out.

If it's any consolation, we (the other MFC) had an imbecile of a ref tonight who probably cost us two points. Ref karma, coming to a ground near you very soon.

I think that Watmore was unquestionably not a foul and there's a good case he should have been booked for diving (he did it a few times). The Bennett hand was more questionable, I accept, but I'm still not quite convinced. But then towards the end of the first half Bennett seemed to be pulled...

The ref was absolutely right re Whatmore, and Mason Bennett. But you lot still deserved to win and I'm ashamed of my lot's performance. Didn't even try to win the game.

Great bloke and a great player, one of my favourites from the Stan Anderson regime. Lived in Nunthorpe. I was his son Paul's football coach for the local cub pack and Derrick used to come along to all the game - realy nice easy going bloke. His son was a very handy little footballer.
