Like when we sold Tavernier for £10m, I think this will be looked back on as bad business. We've sold him far too early and too cheaply.

I just don't see why we couldn't have held off until the summer, or who we're going to be able to get in with 2 days to spare.

Rivals have strengthened their teams, we've just plugged holes in our threadbare squad and sold one of our brightest prospects.

When we sold Tav, there were actually a few question marks about whether he'd continue to keep McGree out the team (people like to forget this now he's an established PL player).

Its one thing saying 'hold on to him', but imagine we'd kept him and he ended up on the bench.

Same thing here. I don't even think he's a shoo-in starter, if he lost his place to Azaz (far from impossible) he'd be back to being worth £1m this summer, we'd be under more pressure to sell Hackney/Fry/Rav/whoever else. Sometimes you just have to take the money when its there.

There comes a time when you need to be realistic though. There is always the chance that he will never be as sought after or a valuable as he is now. Villa were clearly desperate to sign him so we have extracted what we feel is the maximum price we could get. I don't think anybody could argue with that. Lets also not forget he only became an important player very recently, and as recently as last month he was getting absolute pelters every misplace pass.

Agree with that.

He's been with us for 6 months, and been consistent for a couple of those.

Without knowing the value, but seemingly the club have played hardball, it would appear to be a good deal on our terms.
 
Morgan Rogers will soar.. and the best of luck to him. We aren’t there yet.. to keep players.
We’ve done well with recruitment and we will continue to do so. Any rumours or speculation have been superseded by the actual players we end up bring in.
