Amelia Coburn

Her debut album is out in a couple of weeks (8th March) and I'm really looking forward to it.

Doesn't get much conversation on here but surely Teesside's most successful artist since Cattle & Cane?

My wife saw her play in a tiny room upstairs in a pub in Hereford before Christmas and was chatting to her. Blew Amelia's mind when found out they were both from Nunthorpe.

Has been played on Radio 2 and 6Music a bit recently. Her latest single was produced by Bill Ryder Jones.

I've got Saturday's Radcliffe & Maconie's 6 Music show on now and the track I linked was played on there (which prompted me to post this thread!)

Never really felt Cattle and Cane were for me but… I love this
Thanks for popping it on the board

I think Bill Ryder Jones produced the whole album. I look forward to hearing it. She's ace.
Didn't she do a Clash cover that was posted on here?

She performed a set at Costa Coffee in Guisborough 4 or 5 years ago and her talent was obvious.

Hearing somebody playing ukulele versions of Sex Pistols and Jam songs felt pretty unique.

She is indeed excellent. I'm really looking forward to the new album.

Like 1finny, I never really got into Cattle and Cane- talented as they are.

Jodie Nicholson is another excellent local singer songwriter.

That will have been me, she covered Complete Control on one of her early EP's along with
Geno
Call Me
Mad World
This Charming Man
Message In A Bottle
Ghost Town
Wuthering Heights
Down In The Tube Station At Midnight
Life On Mars

to name a few. Unfortunately she has removed most of these from streaming services since she started writing her own material.

She's playing The Georgian later this year, catch her if you can.

That was it mate, yeah. Complete Control. Loved it.

Tried my best but can't warm to her, Saw her sing a solo ukulele version of Both Sides Now and that was the end point for me.

James Arthur was after cattle and cane wasn’t he, the bloke has had number 1s even if his music isn’t to everyone’s taste?
