Is Ingleby Barwick a 'town'?

Getting into 25.000 people living there. 4 pubs 2 secondary schools, 8 primary schools a golf course, swimming pool, Tesco store 6 parks and the second safest small town on North Yorkshire - and regularly the green eyed monster for many on here who aspire to but never achieve the utopia of that TS17 postcode 😋
Not so sure about the second safest small town in North Yorkshire or the utopia you describe.

Wasn't a guy recently killed by being run over by a van, a doctor had his house searched in a suspected poisoning case, issues with cannabis abuse in Romano Park from youths lighting fires and threatening members of the public, nuisance off-road bikes/e-bikes, gangs hanging outside the local shops

Sounds more like my beloved South Bank. 🤣 🤣 🤣

It’s not a town it’s a housing estate where the average size Boro crowd live. If Gibbo could get everyone in IB to buy an early bird season ticket we would be looking good for next season.
Lots of people ARE season ticket holders , but won't be next season going by the general feelings toward the people running the club .

Every resident of Norton can be judged by which pub they frequent they most. True fact.
Well I don't frequent any of them these days so what does that say about me? I found that I didn't really miss going to the pub during lockdown so I didn't bother going back when things returned to normal, whatever normal is in Norton, the Twin Peaks of Teesside.

It’s purely about the number of pints you’ve drank in each one in your entire lifetime. Whichever holds the most says everything I need to know about you.

(I’m not from Norton but I did drink there loads growing up).

Hmmm. That's a tricky one for me. Probably The Red Lion purely because that's where all of us who lived away from the area would meet up when we were back home. I b*ggered off to uni at eighteen and worked away for decades and I only came back here a few years ago.

The standard work on the subject in days of yore was by A. E. Smailes. The conclusion was if it had a Woolies it was a town if not a village

You may now please yourselves it seems but something like a certain size of supermarket would probably be the equivalent

Knew you were gonna say the Red. Hardest to peg. Could be an IPTV distributor, could be a history lecturer, could be a marine biologist. 🤷
