Chuffed for the lad getting an excellent goal tonight. I know he’s not everyone cup of tea, but the lad puts in his absolute maximum effort. He covers so much distance in the game, is much quick to pass the ball then many of the rest of the team, never gives up in a defensive battle and he showed some real threat in the final third tonight.

Not much to be read into a game against 10 men, but I think in general he’s got a lot to give and he reminds me more and more of George friend every time he plays

I reckon Carrick got a bit complacent, believing we no longer had anything to play for, so might as well give Thomas some games so he could make a judgement of him.

He's clearly recognised that isn't the case due to our poor run of form, and played a player at LB who gives his all for the shirt.
 
He frustrates me sometimes by always playing the ball back to the left centre back, sometimes in dangerous situations. There were a couple of passes to nobody tonight too. I do like him when he gets forward though and he has a decent shot in him as we saw tonight. We just need to break more quickly to get him in those positions more often. Hopefully Jones coming back will help with that.

Clarke passed to their men at every opportinity but on the other thread he got MOTM. Engel was poor defensively but he is decent going forward. Better than Thomas who is poor at both.
 
I like him because of his commitment but he is the worst passer of a ball in the whole team and that is saying something.
 
His body shape when passing the ball is horrendous and this leads to him more often than not giving it away. But he can strike a ball and put in a dangerous cross. Just needs to sort his bizarre passing technique out.
 
He’s not comfortable taking on a man when he has them stood up 1 on 1 which is why he goes back to the CB if there isn’t a midfielder to play a bounce pass so he can run in beyond his marker. His delivery is pretty decent when he does get in behind though.
O’Brien is better driving forward in these situations which is why he looked ok when he played there.
Thomas is F***ing awful
 
I can’t fault his commitment and work rate at all - he clearly cares a great deal. You’d like to think that would be the standard for all players but as we know that is not the case so fair play to him.

However, for me he is playing at a level and with a style of play where he is struggling. That is absolutely no fault of his own - that is the fault of the recruitment team.

Unfortunately you need more than just heart to reach the top in football, otherwise we’d all be knocking on Carricks door.
 
I like him. Always gives 100%. Doesn't shirk a tackle. Took his goal really well last night.

Thomas has looked poor in the games so far.
 
One of the worst passers of a ball I’ve seen - constantly gives the ball away, and it’s lead to lots of goals for the opposition

Engel is poor defensively. I would agree with this.

Decent going forward. It depends on what you mean by this statement. He delivers a good ball into the box from the by line. A lot of his play in possession in build up play behind that is sloppy though. First touch is poor and misplaces simple passes too often. Heart is in my mouth every time he's in possession in our own half and he looks for those in field passes.

Like the the majority of the team, absolutely dreadful prior to the sending off. Some car crash passing that unbelievably wasn't punished. Still better than Thomas mind! And you cannot fault his commitment.

Dramatically improved after red card but cant really make a judgement against 10 men.
